Sorry to ask here but is there any good MP4 to GIF editors out there?, preferably free.

I would need to trim and join bits. There are loads of sus third party app's full of malware and I'd like to know what to trust. I know GIMP can do it but it's a faf to get all setup.

I have Photoshop CS2 and Flash Professional CS3, as far as I know they are too old and sadly don't have this functionality.

I've tried a few tools to convert .MP4s to .GIFs without much luck, I'd try editing your .MP4 and uploading it to YouTube and then typing "gif" before the "youtube" part of the link to your video in the address bar which should help you to create a .GIF from your video, then you can delete the video and keep the .GIF.

@Peasantslayer That's a pretty neat tool thanks! Although it's only limited to 15 seconds and one size but very useful.

As you said it might be easier to edit the video first then find a way to make it GIF rather than 'building' it.

Have you tried VirtualDub? I'm not sure of it supporting MP4, but it does capture as well as .gif conversion.
