Wow, this seems real. Smart cat! They usually look at the arm and don't understand the direction but this one is special.

Not at all! There may be like 30 pictures copy&pasted then filtered to look like that picture with a program like photoshop. Then the zooming effect was done like in Prezi's ZUI. Finally the edit point is chosen carefully to make the gif smooth.

I have a friend studying computer science, he can do effects like that and better within 10 minutes.

Now, compare that with the photorealistic Transformers, the studio making them needed powerfull computers working for 38 hours to render one frame of movement.
