The General Anime Thread...

Hi guys, i'm a bit of a noob to this thread and although i'm a bit partial to some Manga/Anime... i don't really follow it all that much anymore, really i was just wondering whether anyone could recommend any decent essential must see Manga/Anime that i may have missed over the years.

Here's a list of stuff iv'e already seen that iv'e quite enjoyed:

Series:

G-Force/Battle of the Planets... (loved watching this a a child)
Ulysses 31... (another childhood favourite)
Pole Posistion... (don't know whether this is classed as Manga, but it has the best title music EVER!)
Guyver
Legend of the Four Kings... (have yet to see them all)
Fist of the North Star... (same as above ^)
Cowboy Bebop.. (probably my favourite series)

Films:

Pretty much all the Studio Ghibli... (Totoro,Kiki etc etc)
Ninja Scroll
Lupin the Third.. (can't remember exact film title)
Blood
Blue
Cowboy Bebop... (again 1 of my favourites)
Ghost in the Shell... (watched 3 of them i think.. can't remember titles)
Tokyo Godfathers... (another favourite)
Redline... (have yet to watch it all, got it this Christmas)
Memories... (Stink Bomb in particular, although short is again 1 of my favourites)

So based off my list, i would be grateful for any recommendations that you think may suit my tastes.

Since you liked Tokyo Godfathers, you should check out the other works of Satoshi Kon... the movies Millennium Actress, Paprika and Perfect Blue, and also the show Paranoia Agent.

Since you liked Bebop, check out Outlaw Star and Planetes.

Since you're on GTPlanet and I assume you like cars/racing, check out Capeta and Initial D.

Then there's Neon Genesis Evangelion, which is pretty much one of the best anime of all-time. 👍

Wow, you're old school there, just like me! The Lupin III movie was probably Castle of Cagliostro, which is another Miyazaki. And yeah, what those guys said. Plus, check out this discussion in the Anime Appreciation Club, Recommend me a show. Full list there with everybody's input, sorted by genre for you.

Also, was just wondering if anybody else here has seen Ayakashi - Samurai Horror Tales.

jeff that list is massive, but i'm surprised there's no mention of Memories... although i suppose because the film's split into 3 shorts.. each 1 with it own vibe, it's hard to catergorise.

1 month is a short time but i will try my bestest.

If you're into automotive anime too then watch Wangan Midnight. 'tis the best one around in my opinion.
