Just because it's from ZC doesn't mean I know how to pull that image up without a tag of some kind...... god!

I never said otherwise!

That's why whenever you do ask I give you the name of the person who's at the very least hosting the image. I only ever search by two tags: Ecchi, and Yoko. :p

T-12 is a mod here now? OH GOD! :p

I will warn you for being drunk.

DK
I nearly crapped myself when I saw his new mod badge. :scared:

Why? I still love you guys. :p

Betchu he was taking over for someone else.

No, I actually volunteered.

Persona's almost done, eh?

I'm going to resume Shana III possibly next week to lay the crappy show to its eternal rest.

A lot of shows on my watchlist are coming to a close, how nice does that feel? SO GOOD. Bakuman's done this saturday, MN's almost done, Another's done next week. mm!

Monster, Bebop and FMA:B finally. I watch a bunch of crappy shows first (minus Another) then I watch a bunch of good shows. I'm going to be so happy a month later

You should read the Bakuman manga it will not disappoint. I sorta powered through the other week while I was ill and it's awesome, plus I think it's coming to a close soon.

Monster, Bebop and FMA:B

Our tastes so similar, is why I like you so much my friend.

A second season will sell, strictly because of redjuice and supercell. Forget the whole story; it's all a perk to the grand scheme of things
I don't know about that. The show is still coming out (There are going to be 11 2 episode singles, with the last coming out in November.), and while the first two volumes have had fairly good sales, those volumes were solicited as soon as the show started.

As the show went on, I'm not so sure lots of pre-orders were placed for later volumes. Here's what Amazon Stalker is saying for volume 3 (Which just came out. Exact sales stats will be out on Tuesday.), and volume 4. Things aren't looking too good for volume 4.

Oh! Somehow I misunderstood that.

I see the point in doing that, but at the same time, I don't.

I finally gave in and started watching subbed anime. I'm watching K-On! starting from the second season, along with starting 2 new anime, Yumeiro Patisserie and something called Working!.

I'd rather wait for a potential boxset. And if more people in Japan had that mentality, singles would officially stop being made.

Judging from those titles, you must like Comedy and Moé. You should check out Yuru Yuri and Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai.

And there are many more sources than just Megaupload and Megavideo.

Uh no. There have been experiments to see whether or not straight to box set form would work. Fate/Zero was part of that experiment, and while it sold almost 43,000 copies in week 1, it made less money than if the show were released in singles as it was guaranteed to sell at least 30,000 copies per volume due to the rabid TYPE-MOON fanbase in Japan. Also considering the very high production values, I'm wondering how much of a profit they even made. Probably nothing massive.

Bakuman. 2 is another show being released straight to box set form, but I'm puzzled as to why they would do so with that show. It's not going to sell a ton of copies, and they'll just lose even more money on that project.

Another experiment being done is with Black Rock Shooter. They're releasing the box set and singles at the same time. I wonder how that one will turn out.

Straight to box set form does not work well for the majority of shows, especially those that have very high production values. If Guilty Crown were released in box set form (The entire show.), while it would be like $700, and maybe sell like 10,000 copies total, it would have caused them to lose a lot of money.

Don't be stupid. I'm talking about more people in Japan losing the desire for singles. People with the "only a boxset" mindset. Not the argument of what would make more money.

They'll never lose it as the otaku know without singles, most anime would bomb, and then they'd have way less anime from a bunch of studios shutting down. They don't want to lose their love.

That is the dumbest marketing tactic ever.

"Let's release things in a stupid way just to make more money. But it's okay, those otaku would buy anything to keep us going."

Have you even read all three parts of The Anime Economy? This is the only way they're able to break even. Get rid of singles, and most anime would cease to be profitable.

They've done things before to bring the price down, but the thing is, those same people who would buy the entire show for $100 (I.E. The box set.), are the exact same people who would spend $600 for the entire show (I.E. The singles.). The otaku completely defy logic.

If you want singles to go away in Japan, all you have to do is make anime mainstream there, and make production costs significantly cheaper. This will result in more people having an interest in buying anime to the point box sets would earn more money, and the industry could sustain itself off that model.

Have I even? HAVE I EVEN?

Have you even held a girl's hand? hugged one? or flirted with? Well I'm sure that's more worthy of "have you even"(Which makes it seem like such a basic thing to do) than reading an article about the anime economy.. that I don't care for at all, btw.

Anime doesn't have a good reputation in Japan, which I believe is because of crazed fanboys(See: Otaku) and Otaku-bait anime. So it's not going to become mainstream.

I think the numbers for the "anime economy" are interesting, but I think they are dumb as hell.

I see we're finally on the same page.
