I'm still baffled at the fact I'm like the only person in this thread who has seen the show, despite it ranking 9th in popularity on MAL, with 100,000+ people having it under "Completed".Sigh...

I don't think you really have to.

I spent close to $4000 on camera equipment last year. Virtually all of it 2nd hand and saved quite a bit doing so, but still a fair chunk of change. How much would you justify spending on camera equipment?

Technology, and you can make a profit as a photographer... better than selling discs...which he won't.

With $4000, I could import many anime releases, and buy a ton of anime releases here. However, if you want to spend $4000 on camera equipment, and it's worth the money to you, who am I to complain about spending that much on that stuff?

To start, you seem to complain that we are going to destroy the anime industry by not purchasing what are commonly considered grossly expensive items.

In terms of raw investment, I can actually justify the camera more so than anime could be. 2nd hand lenses hold their value, and often it goes up with time. I could sell every lens I have for more than what I paid for it, if I was a touch patient. And that is after heavily using them. The camera body will depreciate, but I've already made back the next couple of years in depreciation selling a few shots. Over the summer and this fall, I'll make back the investment on the body.

On the flip side, anime dvd's aren't really going to generate return. I'm sure you'll find some listing or sale price for 2nd hand, watched anime going for more than its initial cost to make a counter point. But that would be like me saying I can could sell my Magic cards for their listed values in an index - basically, you can't do that in the real world. And it isn't like watching Anime is a profitable skill set either.

I never asked you to complain about how I spent my money. You don't really get why I spend that kind of money on my camera, so stop telling us we should spend money on. And stop talking about the cost of things so much - no ones here cares.

If you haven't noticed it yet, you have a fixation on the material value of things. Look at your post about VB's collection - first thing you ask is the money into it. Learn some tact and maybe get over getting off to numbers.

^ Selling my S2K (and/or my AE86) will be my last resort. Its ok, my anime/manga preferences differ from A LOT of people here in TGAT.

^ I started building up my collection since 2004 little-by-little as it grew as what you see right now. I started collecting manga series first though!

-> That Perfect Collection was (and still is) my most expensive single item purchase ever (from Ebay). It started from USD$30 and then it got fierce til the end and rose up up to USD$120!!!

-> My most expensive day for an Anime/Manga binge was USD$300 at my 1st Anime Convention (Anime Vegas 2006).

^ But back then, I was ballin'...(playing Initial D 2nd Stage everyday)
