The question is here: how have you NOT WATCHED IT YET.

Drop what you're doing and go. NOW.

B-but I don't know where to watch it. I don't want to watch those darned rips online, but my local anime con is coming soon, so maybe I'll get the first DVD set.

(NSFW BTW, but what is in this thread)
This now has 15mil views and I have not watched Gurren Lagann yet. :dunce: Something is very wrong.

And all this Madoka Rebellion hype above is starting to get annoying. :grumpy: Pls stop, magical girl fans.

I keep needing to remind myself, that I am technically a magical girl fan. Just not the one the rest are. ^_^'

First off, I saw that AMV and it is very good.

Second, I'm (not) sorry that you don't like the Madoka hype. I'm going to see it eventually, and I hope that no one is going to ruin it for me.

Most of the hyped shows do not deserve the hype, let alone the praise. Madoka is one of very few that deserve it fully, because it will stay as praise, and not be just hype. Madoka isn't hype. The show and movie will become a benchmark in anime, just as a select few have in the past, because it is dat good.

Despite how much you want to keep telling everyone this, there is also a large group of people who completely disagree with that.

Yeah, as there is also an enormous group of people that's up to their mother with Evangelion, or that will laugh at you when you tell them that Cowboy Bebop defines cool. Or that will tell you that Vivaldi is boring. Or that V8 engines aren't good because they're antiquated. Or that Garcia Marquez needed to write in english.

I think being a magical girl fan has a lot to do with how one takes the show. To me, it was okay. A little overrated. Maybe even a little pretentious. Art style is weird squarehead with rounded edges. Only thing awesome is Homura. I don't hate it, it's okay. And I'm not a fan of magical girl so maybe that's why.

Maybe not pretentious, that's the hype having an influence on me.

BTW, V8s suck though, such inefficiency. :p

@nk4e that's mean. but funny, but mean. :guilty:

I am just adding on views.

I actually watched TTGL without knowing that Yoko was even in it.
Still probably the 2nd best anime I watched. And Yoko wasn't my favourite character from it.

P.s. V8's that are actually antiquated aren't good because they're antiquated. Modern V8's are OK, though.

In which we still struggle to learn that People Are Different And So Are Their Opinions...

I honestly couldn't tell you if I was an MG fan or not, as I haven't seen an awful lot of it. However, I did start off Madoka Magica thinking, "ugghh, this is kinda going through the motions a bit." It seemed very typical and only really needed a letter from Hogwarts to complete the cliche.

Mid-season it really started to turn around from me. Call me a sadist, but I love the darker twists and the way the world works. It's not a fantasy, it's a struggle to be an MG in that universe, kinda like being Batman. You get cool stuff, but you're still a lonely bachelor with dead parents and an ever-present need to fight injustice lest ye become it.

Also the damned OST is awesome, so I simply can't hate it when major moments are punctuated with music like this:

I'm also very crap at ending series that are good enough to make me care about characters without feeling pretty sad about it. Cowboy Bebop managed this fairly well, Kill la Kill not really, but Madoka Magica and Gurren Lagann are probably the two Anime that really hit hard at the end due to the character arcs and development, for me personally. This is opinion, not fact.

Still, trying to work out whether either of those gave me the same feels as the Season 5 finale of Supernatural did...

From my experience, magical girl fans tend to hate Madoka with a passion, while it goes down a treat with fans of arthouse films and LGBT viewers. Just my experience however, yours may vary.

Still waiting for artwork of my latest One True Pairing - Flandre Scarlet and Luis Suarez. (Or should it be Patchy?)
Course, my actual One True Pairing - Yuuka Kazami and herself - is pretty scarce on art itself.

The only magicar girl show fan I know is a friend of my wife, and a lesbian girl. And she absolutely loved it, because, in her words, "it took her out of her "comfort zone".

I wonder why that is... I bet you read Jungle Patchy, eh?
No. It's because I really hate Patchy and I really hate Luis Suarez.
Like, more than you can comprehend. The pair of them.
Therefore, they are my One True Pairing - as in, who I'd pair to kill each other.
(I would also throw in Jese Rodriguez to make it 3.)
