You like him too much...

I didn't even know there was hype prior to, and during, watching it. Just saw it and quite liked it. Minus Yuki. Everything would've been much better with someone who wasn't him. But I guess that defeats some sort of purpose.
I like him too much because he's funny to me. Oh well.
I think there was hype. But I wasn't really interested in anime at the time so I wouldn't know for sure.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an anime with a good English dub that I should get into?

Madoka Magica, Neon Genesis Evangelion

What.

But seriously, Madoka and Eva are both awesome, just for goodness sake watch them in Japanese.

If it's a great anime with a good English dub you're after Cowboy Bebop and FLCL are your best bets. Welcome To The NHK has a very good English dub as well if I remember correctly.

Okay, Eva I can sort of understand, but the Madoka dub was excellent to the point that when I think of lines from Rebellion, - which hasn't been dubbed yet - I think of them in the English voices. Homura and Sayaka are especially brilliant. Honestly, the weakest voice of the whole crew is Mami - but then, in the Japanese version, Madoka's voice is a little dull and irritating.

Kyubey is basically equal across both of them, but overall, I guess I just "felt it" a lot more when I watched the dub. People tend to just look at Aniplex USA's god-awful trailer and instantly judge the dub as being terrible, but having watched it in both, I genuinely prefer it in English. It's one of my all-time favourite series, too. ;D

Wasn't saying the English dub of Madoka was bad...

I was saying that people should watch it in Japanese because the Japanese captures the aesthetic of the show better and therefore feels more like it should be there.

And Evangelion is awful in English. Those who misinterpret Shinji's character almost certainly watched the show in English.

-> When it becomes to dub, I highly recommend most of the ADV-produced series like: Full Metal Panic & Azumanga Daioh.

-> The last episode (ep.11) of Danna ga Nani o Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken is adorable and sweet. Kinda makes me think about my life...

-> And this nostalgia-fest anime from Sega:

-> And I like the way CG version Ms. Monochrome doing her dance, so Miku!!

~> Speaking of Miku...

:sly:

Azumanga Daioh does not have Norio Wakamoto in its English dub, therefore you should watch the Japanese dub.

I'm torn on the English dub of Martian Successor Nadesico. I really enjoyed it, but overall I don't think the actual voice acting or production were particularly great, but rather it was saved by its self awareness of itself as a dub, which in turn makes it terrible because that's too meta. Hmm...

Actually, no. Episode 11 of that series had a different animation director (from Ai Mai Mi or so I hear) and it really shows. The animation is complete trash compared to the past episodes. Go take a look for yourselves.

He forgot to add "compared to ZZ's Animax dub":

Blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How dare they replace the awesome opening with that crap.

Anime ja nai!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AOS is a anime about a student who leads a group of GTPers through multiple worlds finding the perfect goddess for them.

AOS
3 letters in AOS
Illuminati is a triangle
A triangle has 3 sides
3=3
aos is loomynarty cunfirmed!!1!!

On an unrelated note, I tried to start watching Amagi Brilliant Park yesterday. Some people's names in there are inspired by American rappers (or so I hear). For example:
Kanie Seiya (literally Kanye West)
Izusu Sento (50 Cent??? :odd:)

Watched the first episode of SAO. Cool game, somewhat over-the-top setup for keeping people playing the game, and some teasing at the end about the main two characters being gay for each other.

Worth a look at episode two then!

Just stop right there and save yourself the trouble that comes with the rest of the series... and if you really can't keep yourself from going, just stop at episode 14.

At every step, I'm thinking, "try not to think how everyone would have died from thirst/dehydration before the second ep happens, try not to think that the authorities would put a stop to the plan and force the creator to release everyone, try not to think that their families' first reaction to this situation would be to yank the NerveGear off, and most definitely don't think about how they're lying on their bed in a pool of urine and poop throughout this, and haven't washed for months."

Woulda saved them a lot of bother by altering the story a little.

That is your opinion. If @CoffeeGrunt wants to watch it, let him watch it.

Darn right.

Who?

I'm developing a theory that the creator only told people they would die to scare them out of leaving the game, (because you'd never know if the system was designed to lock you out after you died.) So when you die, you wake up fine, but are unable to tell the people still in the game.

Doesn't solve the turning-people-into-vegetables problem, but it's getting there...

Why am I getting dotHack vibes after reading this?

@RacingOtaku86 well yeah. Nearly all the posts here have opinions and not facts in them, generally you should take EVERYTHING on the internet with a grain of salt.

@CoffeeGrunt Nice insights, I never thought about that while watching. But I was still told by some of my friends to just stop, so I did :P
