I've seen Lain, rated it highly but it was a few years ago, probably time for a rewatch. What have you got to say about it?

Lain is very good. I really like the art style of the show and Lain's character design. I need to rewatch it sometime too.

I disagree with akira's assessment of it being deeper than Evangelion. Quite possibly as deep though. And unlike Evangelion, it doesn't utilize cool action sequences or fanservice to be interesting. It's just a slow, deliberate mindfrag. And it's awesome. 👍

Lain is one of those series I've been meaning to buy for a while now, after watching it. Other shows that fall into that category are Higurashi, TTGL, Spice & Wolf, FLCL, and Sengoku Basara.

Going on from that 'favourite character' discussion I missed out on earlier, my favourites would include Kamina, Lain, Mion (From Higurashi) and Yuki N :)

Keep in mind that the Visual Novel of Tsukihime is far, far superior in just about every way.

I dont think Lain can attain the deepness of Evangelion, as Eva messes with the entire human race, whereas Lain messes with the individual alone. It is extraordinary indeed, and very good, I remember watching it just when it came out and it was a real trip. I recently watched it again and found it to be every bit a mind**** than before. It doesn’t loose a bit of weirdness and the graphic style not only of the characters, but the show as a whole, pushed the envelope back in the day while staying in budget, and today it still looks fresh.

I’d say Boogiepop Phantom is the spiritual successor of Lain, but they are a long way to go.
 
Finished TWGOK, very great series, came along with things that rather amused me, and had me keep watching it. I would give it an, "8". I plan on watching season 2 soon.

All this talk about K-ON made me remember how cute, hilarious, and somewhat great this show was. I think I should re-watch it sometime, just for the fun of it. :3

Not surprising, of course. For me, anime gets me into the manga. The nice thing about the Tsukihime anime is it's just 12 episodes, so it's a great little nugget to fill in limited free space when you have a busy schedule.

Edit: also, putting some more time into FMA Brotherhood, and I'm amazed at the talent they recruited for the seiyus. I recognize almost every male character it seems. Glad I got convinced to watch this, it's seriously 2x better than original. Story very different, many characters in both but also very different in their motivations, actions, etc. How could they have had the poor judgement to make the first series knowing the mangaka was still only partway through the story? and how could the mangaka have allowed them to the do the story they did for the first series knowing how far it was from his vision?

Here's a neat tip to rouse up activity in a thread: say something someone will find upsetting or offending, :lol: If that person ever reads it, they'll be so upset they'll feel the urge to drop a reply.

In any case, I got back from work and fired up K-ON ep4.

I'll have you know, CLANNAD is a fantastic show... while the first season may not be ubertastic, After Story is where it's at. It's seriously up-there! The story is so good, the art is good, the characters are lovable, it's got great comedic moments...I'd definitely recommend this over Evangelion, ANY day.
