On one hand, it's chock-full of badassery in some animes. The art style is cool and excellently drawn. I just have issues with when they try to actually animate.

It often feels very over-the-top when they move, and lip-syncing...it's my biggest peeve with anime is the lack of real lip-syncing.

That's because the animation is done before recording the voices IIRC.

Just watch Gurren Lagann first. Then Evangelion. Then Madoka. Then Steins;Gate.

Or maybe just Nichijou if you want comedy.
