Where should I start when I get to Monogatari?

Bakemonogatari came first, then Nisemonogatari, then Nekomonogatari Black, then Monogatari Series Second Season, then Hanamonogatari, then Tsukimonogatari. I wouldn't really recommend it though. I only keep watching because I've already got this far and can't be bothered to quit by now. The pacing is dreadful and the "fanservice" is just downright creepy. It can be pretty funny at times though, and much of its stylistic experimentation is interesting, if not necessarily effective.

Also Senjougahara is best girl.

So it's a "Yes, you should watch it" from Mr. C, and a "No, you shouldn't really bother watching it" from you... Looks like it's one of those polarizing franchises, huh?

Never listen to just about anything he says.

Polarising, to say the least. There's much to like about it if one can see past the awful, but one has to be pretty damn tolerant of the aforementioned problems for it to be at all worth it.

Bakemonogatari by itself is probably worth the watch though; Nisemonogatari is where it really goes downhill with the pacing and the main character being sexually assaulted by his girlfriend's best friend and what have you.

Second Season is actually pretty good for the most part, the pacing improves and the fanservice fizzles out for the most part after a slightly bizarre (but not actually that creepy) yuri shower scene in episode 2.

Hanamonogatari is just an extended acid trip with a ten minute monolouge about becoming a counsellor, and Tsukimonogatari's only redeeming features were a great one liner, a few references to other shows (not much of a redeeming feature) and a pretty colour pallete. Oh, and a good OP.

That would be Roger, should've clarified. I mean no offense to him by the way.

Fair enough, now it's clearer. Regardless, I'll have Monogatari in consideration for my log, but I still have to finish some of the shows that I've started watching. Granted, I'm sure that most of them probably won't raise an eyebrow around here, but I still have to follow my own recommendations. You can't always go by someone else's tips, I'd say. Most of them are mecha shows (Three Sunrise shows in Xabungle, G Gundam and The Big O, and BONES's own show, Heroman), and I also haven't forgotten about SVX's own recommendation; both Chunnibyou series...

@Downhill Dino, why am I not worth listening to?

My comments with regards to Monogatari are pretty simple, the show is certainly interesting and in some ways very well executed; but being unique, interesting, and well executed do not necessarily make something engaging, and the slow pacing and audacious (if relatively infrequent) fanservice will be more than enough to put most people off.

Having sampled the Monogatari series, I reckon @Roger the Horse is spot on. Watch Bakemonogatari (very interesting dialogue, premises and execution), skip Nisse-, unless you like watching incestual toothbrush fetishism, and do with the others what you will.

Well, One Piece does like to portray women as people who are not allowed to have "normal" breast sizes (apparently) and Naruto is already trying to multiply itself in order to maintain its popularity. So, they do other things to entice fans (and the moolah).

But you also have your shows which don't "milk" their source material properly; i.e. actually respecting what said material stands for without changing it to oblivion. I'm looking at Toriko (great cast of actors, solid animation, but excessive censoring and filler) and YuYuHakusho (it absolutely deserves a remake being a very solid show quality-wise, but most people seemingly aren't interested in doing so), for example. Sure, some of these shows have had their chance at redemption; namely Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Hunter x Hunter, both of which had tremendous modern remakes (I still need to give "Shin Jojo" a watch one of these days, as a matter of fact).

I just noticed something from this statement, but I will refrain myself from saying it.

I love you. Not that way, of course.

I'll be honest, I find much of what you say as nonsense. Or sensationalized.

I can be in the wrong here. I just feel how he explains a show is a little over the top, or more than it really is.

Well... that's Anime for you... it's nothing if not over the top. :D

Really, though... the Monogatari series is an exercise in frustration. It's like a favorite band that's got some brilliant chops but which keeps releasing terrible albums with snippets of brilliance sprinkled across a few tracks. You keep on listening however, because yes, Senjougahara really is the best girl.

Way old I know but I hadn't really visited this place for the weekend:

Oh yes, how could I forget Rayearth? That was (probably) the very first anime to use several cars for its character names. Notice how the main characters are the only ones who don't have a car-related name; just like in Nanoha, where Nanoha herself is the only person who isn't named after a car...

I find this very weird.
