Are there any Korean animation projects out there? I saw a Chinese one in the form of Cupid's Chocolates and though there might be something interesting from Korea.

I would say "Miraculous Ladybug", but there are two problems; A) It's more of a Korean-French-Japanese project between Zagtoon, Method Animation, Toei Animation (gasp and shock) and Samg Animation and B) It's not exactly made in 2D. Well, the trailer Toei made for the show was made with 2D animation, but then the whole project turned into another CGI show and the chance was lost.
Speaking of that trailer, it did make me curious about seeing what Toei could do with a French idea, but then I saw what happened afterwards and went "bloody hell it's another Code Lyoko" (I don't hate Code Lyoko mind you, I was just expecting to see an European animated series that wasn't done in CGI and/or average 2D animation)... Then again, since it is Nostradamus's country, France may have predicted the awful results of Sailor Moon Crystal and ran in Korea's direction instead for animation work.
It may matter little to this thread, but here's the trailer I was refering to;

@Niku Driver HC That looks likeit had potential but I guess it really fell off huh...

I thought China didn't like it when its people got involved in outside media (excluding kung fu movies :p ). I may be wrong though.

I wouldn't say it's terrible, I mean, the CGI version is rather pretty and does feel bright as well as entertaining in some portions, but I was looking forward more to a "French Sailor Moon-esque show" (call me silly if you must, but I would respect that idea) than yet another European CGI animation series.

And as I was searching for proper info on Japan not making an anime version of Ladybug, my theory has gone out the window;

It seems that Toei has caught the bug (hurr), because this picture practically confirms that a Ladybug OVA will exist in the foreseeable future... The only difference between this "new Ladybug anime" and the PV video is the main male character; the brooding emo-like-in-citizen-guise Felix will be replaced by France's own cheerful happy-go-lucky Adrien, but nothing else has come up as of this moment. I have no idea how will this all turn out, but I'll keep an eye on it just for the European origins alone. Are we going back to the good ol'days of Dartacan and Ox Tales...?

@Tuscan37 your story would be more suitable in the GT6 Race Reports subforum.

Hello. My friend (and the Polish GT community) is preparing a scenarios for the Gran Turismo: Manga "The racing way". Each volume has a 4 days from Hiroshi's life. This is a first of 4 days from Hiroshi's life.

Work by: @simonPL (yes, sadly, he's banned, but, thumbs for him)

ENJOY! :D

PS. Claire is a Honoka from Dead or Alive 5! :)

PS2. And we need the draftsman ;)

* - This manga is not officially supported by Polyphony Digital and the Gran Turismo. All the events and persons are coincidental.

My name is Hiroshi. I am a typical teenager and I live in Antakt's Aniot. I am 19 years old and I' m from Japan. I'll tell a little bit about our family. Our family has racing roots. My dad is now the Safety Car driver in the Super GT racing series. In the past was the driver of Honda, Subaru and Toyota. Sometimes he takes me to the races. You do not even know what it's exciting! On the 17th birthday he bought me a Mazda RX7 from 1990 year. It is red and produces more than 200 hp. Mom while is working in the office. She is not too tired this work. Let's get to my apartment. I live in a medium skyscraper. This is the dining room. Here we have a kitchen, main room, toilet and here we have my room - my heaven on earth. I have gaming things, a computer monitor, a bed, a wardrobe and a desk. Next to my home is the hotel placed and office, where he works mom.

I heard from the "Car" magazine, that soon will be Japanese sports car round (in which I participate) on the streets near my house! I decided that I have to improve the car. Now I'll go to the store and buy new oil in the car.

- Good afternoon.
- Hello, young man. What would you like to buy?
- Near my house will be held round sports cars, so I'm thinking about changing the oil.
- Do not you used a special voucher from me, so the exchange will be free of charge.
- Oh yes! But I got a voucher to celebrate the 10th birthday of your store! Thanks! Then I ate dinner, watched TV, I played games and cleaned the apartment.

The time is 22:00.
When I set out at the start of the race saw a some Imprezas, Toyota GT86, Hondas and the other cars.
I saw the red light.
5!
4!
3!
2!
1!
I started! I had an excellent start. I set out for Toyota, and i overtake it on the first corner! Next it went harder. Subaru Impreza driver was very defensive, but I managed to overtake him. I've never been so self-centered! I passed the chicane and then went over the hill. I overtook a few cars, and 2 laps gone as soon as he started the race. I finished it in the first place! I got a some congrats from the other drivers. After the race I got a win prize (5000 yen).

The next race is to be held at the Autumn Ring. After race came to me a stranger. She had a slightly pink hair. She asked me to drive her home.
- What is your name? - she asked.
- Hiroshi. - I replied.
- My name is Claire.
- Where are you from? Hence, anyway... I live nearby. How old are you, Hiroshi? I have 18.
- I have 21.
- I saw you in the race. You have a very nice car. You are overtaked their cars with ease.
- Thanks!
- Oh, we are already in place. It's nice to be going. Hey! And she go to the home. So, I did this too and I back to the home. I go to the sleep.

Even though this doesn't belong in this thread, I'm assuming English isn't your first language. It would be helpful if you could get an English-speaker editor to correct the grammar.

Ok. Now i correct the grammar. It will helps. :D

I've been putting this off waaaaaay too long. I'm not sure if anyone actually reads them

I decided to give the Evangelion Rebuild movies a rewatch due to going into them with an incorrect understanding as to what they were actually representing.

First things first, do not go into this movie expecting a full scaled faithful representation of the final. As with all three, the best way to enjoy them is to go in expecting that you're watching something not called Evangelion. While I do compare it to the original, this is more of a context as a 'competitor' to it instead of finding what it should be. I guess in the same way with comparing documentaries on the same subject.

That aside, time to get on with the write up

Inside: Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance, Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo.

1.0 is probably the closest to the original Neon Genesis Evangelion series of the three Rebuild movies that have been released so far. While this certainly isn't a bad thing, or the reason it's my favourite out of the three, I find it's a good way to start off the trilogy, giving the viewers who have watched the original a familiar beginning while not also making it feel dreary or giving off the illusion of it being a money milking ploy.

The visuals are stunning throughout all three. Studio Khara really made a great impression on their debut production, especially considering they were thrown right into the deep end to create something faithful to an incredibly prestigious namesake within anime. The updated visuals brought the feel of the super advanced society into play, but without overdoing it and instead making it look believable - something the original also did very well. The added quality to the visuals brought an extra 'barren wasteland' surrounding to the background, relaying the pure urgency the locals had to leave Tokyo 3 when an Angel arrived in the first two, while showcasing the post apocalyptic state of the world and it's complete ruins fantastically in 3.0.

In 1.0 and 2.0, characters were generally likable across the entire board in entirety. Misato was still awesome and laid back, Shinji was less whiny, Asuka was less of a bitch and Rei, well, wasn't really anything to begin with, however her physiological state was shown more rather than it being given in one fall swoop in the original. Kaji, my favourite character from the original still had his hilarious charm, but I felt his impact on Shinji wasn't shown to be as big as an impact as it could've been. The added EVA pilot, Mari, was a nice touch as well, finally giving an insight to seeing what happened with EVAs outside of Japan.

However, in 3.0, the standard dropped considerably. Misato had lost her touch - which is not something that can be knocked per say but she instead turned kick ass... a bit blandly. She still continued to be cheeky and fight against odds but there wasn't any of the charm left, instead it was an 'alrighty then' moment when she did something as odd defying as taking out Rahzel. Shinji was put back to being the whiny brat from the original, while understandably distraught it was irritating to hear in him act like he was meant to pilot - considering he didn't want to do it in the first place. Rei wasn't really a thing anymore, and her vagueness to life had turned irritating in itself, too. Asuka was for once one of my favourite represented characters, not acting like a spoiled brat but instead being tough and willing to fight - and willing to take any pain in doing so. Kaworu was by far the best character of the three Rebuild episodes. He had a genuinely intriguing way of life, and was satisfying to hear. His interest in Shinji was well brought out and taken well considering the homosexuality isn't exactly shown regularly in anime to my knowledge. His departure was in a way taken much better than the original. It felt much more heartfelt and a greater deal of sympathy was able to be given to him.

I just wish the same could be said for the actual events in 3.0. The only real word to describe how it was carried out in my opinion is... meh. The plot felt confusing and overwhelming - with such a constant change leaving viewers in the absolute dark, while eagerly anticipating for some sort of explanation which didn't come for what felt like an eternity. It felt rushed and vague for no real apparent reason, which is a shame considering how enjoyable the first two were.

2.0 and 1.0 were fantastic, however, and the score I gave them reflects that. The plot felt brushed up and direct to the point, while not feeling pacing issues or weird regularity issues of the attacks, something I feel the original fell to. Having the plot brought into a cinematic type pacing really benefited the story I feel to make it more interesting and more approachable by other viewers.

With exception to 3.0, the Rebuilds felt like a refreshing take on a familiar favourite to many, almost making it accessible to a wider range of anime enthusiasts without taking the enjoyment out for the most pure of purists. For this reason I am happy to say that I felt they were just as good as the original series, but in a different way. It would have been better if they had touched on the physiological issues of characters a whole lot more to give more understanding to the stresses the pilots were given, while also been given a better contrast between all three and their attitudes to piloting the EVA units.

To end off, I'd like to touch on the popular theory of the Rebuild trilogy being a sequel to the original series. My view is that it is not. While there are good explanations as to why it could be, the misfitting to both storylines just doesn't make sense and outweighs the small theories to suggest they are.

While I still have Owarimonogatari to write up I'm pooped after that,

@Niku Driver HC Perhaps Toei's just making bad decisions left and right now... Though I haven't seen Dragon Ball Super so I can't pass concrete judgement on that.

Or maybe they are going through a bad phase both in terms of in-house work and finances; from what I've seen of Sailor Moon Crystal's first season, it was a decent concept that was put in a malfunctioning blender and kept getting inconsistent animation left and right. Toriko is the same; great story, great cast of actors, but then the awkward animation and overbearing censoring take away most of the manga's impact. As for Super, all I've seen of it were those infamous images that were posted some months ago on some website (can't quite remember which one right now), so my judgement can't concrete either, just like yours.
Maybe the fact that now Toei is willing to work on a Ladybug OVA means that they are gaining their bearings back... Or so I believe, at least.

Beautiful Bones: Sakurako's Investigation.

Finished it now and it was a good mystery anime. However it needs a Season 2, no really it NEEDS it.

It is episodic so if you're not into that stuff then I'm kinda sorry, though I found the art and music to be nice.

I guess in terms of shows that need a season 2 from 2015 for me, the shows would be:

  • Prison School
  • Shimoneta
  • One Punch Man
  • Sakurako's Investigation
Would you guys say it was a decent year for anime?

For all of us's sake, try to keep things somewhat family friendly...

Anime fans are weird. Like, weird enough that they paint their favourite characters on their cars. Not necessarily bad weird... Just different...

I remember someone posting that in the Cars in General section not too long ago, not sure if Odd or Questionable Modifications. That user censored it though. Or was it this thread?

Both I think. It's been around for like 3 months either way :p

Gran Turismo: Manga "The racing way"
vol. 1 (2/4)

In this part there's a hint from One-Punch Man! :)

* - This manga is not officially supported by Polyphony Digital and the Gran Turismo. All events and persons are casual.

After the race Hiroshi didn't remember anything. He remembered that he was under the bridge and someone escorted... He looked at the model of the Mazda RX7, and remembered that he had the race and won it. And then he escorted the girl who had a very pretty face. She was short, and her name was... Claire. He get up, washed, ate breakfast and told his mother about Claire.
- Listen, I gotta tell you something.
- I beg your pardon.
- I met a girl. - What's her name?
- Her name is Claire. Is 18 years old. When I finished the race, he asked me to escort to her home.
- Okay. You have a new job. Buy the ingredients for okonomiyaki, and for me a waifu. The teenager left the home. But something stopped him.

Someone came up to him.
- Boy, have you seen the man who once raced in the Super GT?
- No, but ...
- Did you talk about it?
- Yes. - But this is my dad Satoru!
- Yes. I'm looking for him, because he must take part in the race stars of the Super GT.
- He didn't tell me about it. I am slightly surprised. Well, I'll go to the store and call him. Hiroshi bought waifu and the ingredients to make okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza). The man was still waiting for a teenager. Hiroshi called to his dad. He was now at the airport. He could not get through to him, but he got a message from him.

"Now I'm on the plane. I can not too much to write, because I'm going to Tokyo for the race stars of the Super GT. If you saw a man in a blue jacket, it was Takashi. Today also you refer to race stars. I've got two tickets. I'll see you at the race!
Dad"

Then I came to home and gave my mom waifu. Then he cleaned the apartment. Claire knocked.

- Hey!
- Hey. I have a question for you. You would fly with me to Tokyo to race stars of the Super GT?
- Yes, just I do not know what it is.
- Super GT is a racing series, which is involved Japanese cars. My dad raced in the Super GT, and now is the driver of the safety car. He got an invitation to race the stars.
- Sounds cool. I can go!
- Well, good. Hiroshi made okonomiyaki, they ate it and then drove to the highway to the airport. Claire called to the parents and teen stay focused on driving. Bought a ticket on the airport, they saw the plane and got into it.

Crap, I just realised it's already 2016 in Japan, so there's no repeat of the countdown to the first trailer for Eva 3.0.

For some reason I have seen quite a few pictures of Dagashi Kashi before this anime even starts. Is it hyped in Japan or something.

Guys. Forget everything from this page from this point on. It's time to move onto Winter 2016 Shows!

What on this list has got you sprung and alert?

Sushi Police
Ajin
Why is it that there's always some generic romcom based on supernatural abilities in school?
Goddamn, there's one every season and with each passing year they get less and less distinguishable from themselves.
