Question Cano, did you watch the Sony dub of Rurouni Kenshin by any chance?

No. I firsr watched Trust and Betrayal which I loved. Then the TV series aired here in horrid spanish dubbing done in Venezuela or something like that. I could not stand 3 episodes. Then I tried watching it in japanese and could not stand 15 minutes.

How could Kenshin become so stupid and absolutely unbearable from the OVAs to the series beats me. Also, every other character in the series was incredibly annoying, ALL. OF. THEM. The animation was subpar (except the fight with Saitou which I must admit was pretty well done), the music was horribly generic... I cannot find a SINGLE good point to it except the Saito fight.

And yes I'm nominating it.

Gave Iketeru Futari The Vanishing Boy mentioned a try and it's great. Very funny

Too bad it's just 16 episodes with 5 mins each. It will be over way too soon :indiff:

Screengrab from Running Man off Neo Tokyo. Pretty damn amazing.

Mirai Nikki keeps getting better and better :D

Yukki's starting to make himself useful. I am so 🤬 happy about that.

I laughed when they were running down the hallway and Kasugano ran into a wall. Her background story is messed up though... The Quintwelve "intro" was ridiculous . Anyways this episode was crazy!

BTW does Twelfth remind anyone else of the 20th Century Boys trilogy?

-> Wow, just got knocked out earlier! That was a good nap! 👍

I'm curious, what release do you have? Is it the S.A.V.E. one?
^ What do you mean!? My cousin let me borrowed his DVD collection. It was distributed by ADV...god I miss ADV, they were such a great distributor of anime and manga. They handled every anime series better than Funimation ever had! :(

And they stil insist on awful fanservice

Fanservice sells. The industry started having problems years ago, so that's why the quality of anime has gone down, and we have tons of moe and fanservice, just what the hardcore otakus want.

When we'll have "Quality>Quantity" again, I'll never know.
^ Depending to the situation, or in any ecchi/harem/love comedy series. I find fanservice as refreshing as a boba milk tea on a hot day. It makes most animes/mangas not boring. Plus, I like fanservice!

;)

Fanservice is okay for shows that it makes sense in. It killed HOTD :(.

Opening shirts that way is becoming a cliche :indiff:

Higher quality - 2.46mb
It's a light show! Stupid auto-exposure....

Spinning pedestal at work
A closer view on the gears
The gearing of the thing..... even with the added weight to the axle as a way to have momentum assist me while it's already turning, it's still not as heavy as it could be. BGS weighs a lot more than I thought, and putting all 3 on display was even worse!

Very cool Andyyy!!!

I'm not complaining... Nice pics.

Asuka pulls off an eye patch surprisingly well lol. She still looks so delicious.

^ Um, what is HOTD?

^ Well in my opinion, GAINAX is always on crack/LSD/weed/etc. just look at most of their works...and I wouldn't be surprised if Dead Leaves was made by GAINAX too.

I'd say the only thing I don't like about Bakemonogatari is the little random sentences/phrases that flash for a second. Especially in the beginning of the episode.. I want to read them!

ADV Films is still here, it's just complicated to explain. They're now Sentai Filmworks.

Also ADV handling everything better? I wouldn't really say that. They stretched themselves too thin, grabbed up a ton of titles that were mediocre (At least they weren't like Tokyopop who picked up every manga in sight.:ouch:). They also burned the subtitles on in yellow, so you could never give your Japanese skills a try as subs would be there no matter what. FUNi allows the subs to be optional.

Also if you're wondering what S.A.V.E. is, it's this line FUNimation launched last year. You can basically own an entire season of an anime for $30 or less. Of course that $30 is MSRP, so you can get it for way less at places like Rightstuf and Amazon. However, a complaint with the S.A.V.E. line is how they have this green banner (Stickers on the shrinkwrap wouldn't be worth it. Some have them, but they're almost phased out.). There are at times reversible cover art, but that's what you get for waiting so long.

Also, the final release FUNi will ever do for any anime is a S.A.V.E. release, or Anime Classics release. Anime Classics is similar to S.A.V.E., except the cover art looks way better, and the MSRP is $50. Titles get into Anime Classics based off of sales, and fan reaction. Master of Martial Hearts getting a release there pissed people off, but it's because that sold well due to a marketing tactic by FUNi to show off the sex appeal.

Anyway, deciding to remove rewatches from MAL. Kinda a long story, but in a nutshell, I want to know how much time I've spent watching anime initially. I'll sometimes put the rewatches back in temporarily to see how much more time is added.

They probably do have something of value, but since they flash it, it's impossible to read, thus you probably weren't even supposed to as they intended. However, I actually love how they do that... they always give me the impression of something messed up or of deeper meaning lies in the story... sort of like what they did in Madoka. With the random short sequences of something else happening, and then going back to the main scene.

Pause the video man, then you'll be able to read them.;)

I always enjoy reading them. It offers a nice bit of backstory/silly element to the show. The sillier ones usually stick around longer...

I do... ALL THE TIME, but you don't know how fast some of these flash by.. And it gets pretty frustrating rewinding the video constantly.

They are up for only a nanosecond?:p

On a side-note, I still don't know what FUNimation was thinking with this Anime Classics cover for Burst Angel.

^ Oh, so thats how it is...I'm a fan of ADV's work better than most distributors.

:)

(Wanna hit me up? I'm at GT5 right now @ the >MISSING< Tracks room)

Though ADV has gone into obscurity now. Not too many people know they're still around even. I still remember the day when this news came in. I still even vaguely remember what their website looked like. Only ADV thing I own they distributed (Meaning nothing that other companies re-released using their subs and dubs.) is the first Maburaho box set.

Funny how they're still obscure when Clannad is selling like hotcakes still, including the BD which can be bought for $67.50 at the cheapest, and Amazon is surprisingly selling it at the full MSRP of $90.

Awesome dude. Pics.

Hello, bros.

651738ff3da3fd18bcdae8e4baada2e64519f65a.jpg

If I received a hello like this everyday I'd be happy man.

Anyway, song. And you know, I really REALLY struggled to find something in spanish. Something official of course, as there have been several translated anime songs, and even some very VERY well done fan attempts. Alas, I failed, so I bring you Jesica Toledo.

This girl from Chile has been fan-translating and fan-singing anime themes for well over ten years now, she has a very good voice -good for someone who isn't a pro anyway, she sounds well- and has some contacts in some recording studios, so she has actually released two cover albums over the internet. She is quite famous in Latinamerica, so I thought it would be fitting to post something by her. It also helped it's... from Rayearth.

You all remember how I'm watching Rayearth right now. We're in 2nd season now, but officially Hikari to kage wo dakishimeta mama (2nd op) was never translated to spanish when the show aired in Latinamerica (they used the horrid spanish version of Yuzurenai Negai for both seasons). The guy that ripped and created the spanish version I'm now watching kept the second op sequence, but instead used Jesica Toledoss version of the song, which is what you're gonna be listening to right now.

This wraps up the non-japanese, non-english week, and we enter another normal random week.

Futuristic Diary 5; written while watching it....
