I'd be happy to read it. I've not actually thought about contradiction or paradoxes when I watched it. I'm trying to remember the explanation exactly but nothing of the sort comes to mind right away.

Instead of an essay, I'd prefer it if you made a time machine instead. The entire concept of time travel is a goddamn fictional fabrication, every time travel media you saw has had it wrong. If you ACTUALLY time travelled, everything would always happen in the same manner, because you're moving through time. No changes could be made; it's all set since you were already there.

Depends on if there are multiple timelines or if there's only one.

If there's only one timeline and the only form of time travel is essentially like a rewind for real life, then of course nothing could change. Everything would be exactly the same, including the time traveler who would now have no knowledge of the fact that they time traveled back in time. And really, there would be no singular "time traveler". Everything in the entire universe has gone back in time.

If there's multiple timelines and the time traveler can travel and retain their knowledge of how things happen, then things can absolutely change. Because the time traveler has the knowledge of how things would normally play out, they can very easily do things to change it.

I am only up to episode 10 but I am still loving that show. It helps that I am a huge WWII "fan?" and I like seeing the choices they make. I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

But if there are multiple timelines, then things can change. When you travel or leap to the past, the very second you do anything differently, you branch off into an entirely new timeline that's completely separate from the timeline that your past self previously went through.

I never claimed that I'd "prove" or "disprove" S;G's time travel. The time travel in Steins;Gate isn't a real theory so there's nothing to prove or disprove. But for all I know, S;G's time travel could be real. I mean hell, quantum mechanics is pretty damn funky itself, and that IS a very valid scientific theory.

I'm just setting out that Steins;Gate's explanation of its time travel mechanics, so far at least, are bad. For all I know, they might come up with a clever way of elaborating and improving the time travel mechanics for the S;G movie.

I hate to tell you this now, but the anime of Zipang doesn't completely... conclude. There's always the manga if you want to follow the story of the JDS Mirai beyond where the anime leaves off, though.
