Episode 22: It ultimately went in the direction I feared it would after episode 16, after beginning to make me think it wouldn't with episodes 17-20. Let me just ask.... WHAT THE **** KIND OF GARBAGE ENDING IS THAT?!

Bad ending eh? I just hope it's not something like:
Nagisa coming back to life somehow. All that "other world" nonsense might make it happen, and that would be disastrous.
That coming from a lolicon....Its staring into my SOUL!!!!
I know, right?Just let it happen.
It's not. This is anime, son.I never knew rainbow was an eye color.

Hey, it's Hollywood baby, not Shakespeare!
Nail. On. The. Head.
Letting Ushio die at the end was indeed unnecessary. I don't get why they made her almost exactly like her mom when she was little...both of them had dumb parents. Who lets their kids stay at home on their own like that? Have someone to babysit AT LEAST.
But it's visual novel, blame the people who made up that silly revival crud...
It's not Shakespeare, meaning what exactly? That it's not a tragedy?
I don't have any issues with something having a happy Hollywood ending...
Yeah well, it was still based off an already existing VN, and VNs don't exactly have the most coherent stories when multiple arcs are being stringed together in some chronological fashion.... In other words, VN-adapted animes are usually crippled from having a logical or very well plotted-out story, AS just happened to have magical qualities. It was already established in season 1, so just accept it.
When it comes to reading/watching something, I find that I really really want everything to work out in the end. A nice happy ending to keep me cheery. But oddly enough, as a writer I try to do the exact opposite. I can't bring myself to write a 100% happy ending, it's boring and I feel as though my time was thoroughly wasted.
Even though there's the cheery part of me, I still appreciate it when everything goes terribly wrong in whatever I'm watching/reading.
Let me just say for the record:
Clannad After Story > Steins;Gate

Just finished Clannad After Story...
Episode 22: It ultimately went in the direction I feared it would after episode 16, after beginning to make me think it wouldn't with episodes 17-20. Let me just ask.... WHAT THE **** KIND OF GARBAGE ENDING IS THAT?!
Before that, I was thinking I'd probably give it an 8, and I was toying with the possibility of giving it a 9 even... but it ended up a 7.![]()
And I gots myself a real GF... Dunno what to do with SayakaOh well, anime waifus are a whole lot different from real life waifus so I can keep both heh heh.
^ It's not exactly that though.
There's supernatural crud happening.
I like happy endings, I like sad endings and I like bittersweet endings... as long as they're good endings.
It's nice to see things work out, but seeing every little loose end suddenly work out by some form of magic or coincidence is a bit boring.
I assume you've done a fair bit of writing yourself
Usually, the endings to the stories I conceptualize are quite dark/sad, as a lot of them are Silent Hill inspired.what's your preferred ending to write?
This. Warm, fuzzy, happy endings are great, but bleak endings can be great too. Take the original ending to Army of Darkness for example. It was totally something Ash would do, and it was a sad ending, but Universal made them change it to a happy one. I prefer the original just because it fit the character better even though it wasn't happy.
I don't "accept" the supernatural stuff in CLANNAD. I pretend it isn't there and that makes After Story so much better to me.
Even though I have yet to finish it, I don't see that happening.
Another example of a great bleak ending would be The Mist. The movie itself is kinda meh, but damn the ending is great.![]()
Mirai Nikki ep 14:
Then I actually felt bad for Yuno after Yuki told her to go to hell and she started crying. Poor Yuno.
You kidding bro? After Story episodes 16-19 DESTROY Steins;Gate.
Gotta admit, I'm a bit surprised that we're in near-unanimous agreement over After Story's ending.
After being condemned for having anything negative to say about Steins;Gate, I was half-expecting to encounter similar opposition on this matter.![]()
You serious? No pity for the crazy bitch from me. I thought he should've killed her then and there, but that would require some serious balls, and Yukki is not getting any anytime soon.
I think Yuno just needs someone to love her.
