Guilty Crown Ep. 19:

Ho-ly 🤬! Where do I even begin? Segai has officially invented the "troll hat". What was the deal with his left eye? I don't remember seeing that before.

And now he's been ended; Cody is going to be mighty pissed.

So, Yahiro wants to redeem himself by not leaving Souta behind (yes, he's still an asshole), Ayase wants to be a Queen but doesn't have the opportunity to because of Trollgai. He even goes as far as to call her a tomboy. At his end, his trolling got the best of him with his final words... and even then, he was trollin'.

And as it turns out, Shu actually has the most powerful (or at the very least, most effective) Void because, well, pay particular attention to the episode title and you'll get it. At this point you should already have an idea of what's going to happen to Inori, and possibly Gai.

OMG what an awesome episode! Segai is FINALLY GONE! I hate that dude.

It's slower than usual these days, but hopefully not dying :nervous:
Wtf?! It's definitely not dying. It was slow yesterday, that's it. And I wasn't here.

Getting Guilty Crown 19, hopefully it'll go quickly... *sets bandwidth allocation to high and closes Chrome after catching up*

It's certainly less lively without Lain around.

It's only quiet right now because the GC blowout hasn't taken place yet.

We'll be yelling at, and calling each other pricks soon enough.

No. It was because I wasn't here.

I'm stuck at school trying to entertain myself for the next hour until the metal fabrication shop is open to all students...if only I knew about the schedule :banghead:

WTF was that anyway? A minute ago he didn't give a damn, now he's throwing out lines like "we leave no one behind"? Wut?

^^ please rewatch previous episodes and get a clue....

Time to watch some GC awesomeness 👍.

Trying to feel self-important, are we? :p

For the rest: Ew. Entertaining yourself? In school? Have you no shame?

Wants to atone for being an assface, I'd say.

He still needs to die. I've no time to let bygones be bygones. Kill him.

Who ever was asking about Segai's left eye - it has been that way forever. Believe most clear after Segai directly witnesses Shu extracting Inori's void in Ep 4.

You guys hate on Yahiro too much.

Segai being gone makes me mad, since he was basically epic troll status that kept things interesting. The joker so to say, thus his cellphone charm. But at least he stayed true to just wanting to figure things out, rather than any other actual motivations, such as what GHQ actually cared about.

I don't like the Tron style glow on the Voids Shu pulls now. Looks... lame.

Too much?

More like "not enough".

Hate on someone willing to think about hard choices and accept them, rather than trying to make impossible things happen. And then you can consider a bit of his back story - "let me lie to everyone and pretend to be happy while I use less than ideal methods to make money to treat my sibling."

Also, I like how TC has decided it is back to being as good as it was at the start of the show.

lol wut?

^^ Your response is gold 👍..

You mean the sibling he considered a burden, and the sibling who admitted he would eventually hate or attempt to kill (I forget which) him precisely because of that?

That sibling?

You mean subconsciously? What the cancer showed his brother wasn't what he always felt. If you think you could give up much of a normal life and never have negative feelings towards the person, you are an idealist among idealist.

And his sibling was consumed with rage from never being able to communicate, nor express anything, being forced to see both sides of a person with no recourse.

You really, really misunderstood that whole scene when Shu killed him with Yahiro's void.

Guilty Crown!

Haruka is still a terrible mother.

Segai is dead.

Shu is Jesus.

I'd say it's a successful episode. I don't really know what TC is talking about when it comes to character development though.

Someone that finally understands. 👍 Tip: put yourself in their shoes.

Which is exactly why I don't get this good samaritan attitude he pulled off out of the blue.

I don't think I did because I didn't miss any of that. Even if I did it wouldn't change how much I dislike him as a character; I disliked him before his brother was ever brought into the picture. In fact, when he started on about why he turned on Shu in the beginning (even though that's precisely when I started to dislike him) I thought "Well, at least it's for some good."

Now, he comes out of nowhere with the 'we leave no man behind' motif? Really? And Souta of all people...

At least now it seems Shu has finally accepted everything, but at the same is literally going to assume everyone's burdens at the same time. Which could be disastrous

Jeshus? Ew... that's nasty.

Way to sum up an episode though.

Toward the end of the OP, has that rolling footage of Gai and a bunch of other people I can't remember always been there?

Because before today I honestly don't recall noticing it.

In fact, when he started on about why he turned on Shu in the beginning (even though that's precisely when I started to dislike him) I thought "Well, at least it's for some good."

Oh dear, where to start?

So you dislike him because he turned Shu in? Let us look at why he might have done that:

- Segai got to him
- Segai knew about his dying brother
- Shu knew Yahiro's big secret, which was keeping his brother alive
- Shu's handler, Inori, pulled a gun on Yahiro
- No one really knew Shu well, as he said himself from kind of being a loner

So what we have here is a guy that was likely tortured a bit, or at least heavily threatened, choosing his brother over a relative stranger. I really don't see how Yahiro turning him in was at all shocking.

Yahiro learned the hard way what happens when you over simplify things - Shu got turned on and he is likely lucky to be alive himself, as everyone was aware he was advising Shu. Thus, atonement. He is honestly one of the most believable characters in the show. Most everyone else is filling an Archetype fairly well.

In thst premise, what are you arguing against, exactly?

I said that. Not in so many words though. :p

You grossly simplified it. Hating on a character for being human is just wanting idealist characters. Which, frankly, are incredibly boring. And in all honesty, if you had been in Yahiro's situation, I don't imagine you'd act differently.

I certainly know I wouldn't have done much differently, though perhaps maybe have used a bit more than just Voids for rating people.
