I didn't see the show yet, but I read the manga. I heard that the show ended at the Romeo & Juliet arc but the manga is much farther. Be warned though: There's a lot of fillers. It's still helluva funny (cliche-galore) and the art is very cute, but those are the real reasons I keep reading it. A lot of people reading it complained about little plot and I'm with them.

Yeah pretty much. It would have been better if it didn't just end. Way too open-ended to be pleased with it. Despite you reading through it I'd still recommend watching the show. It's always a whole 'nother experience, of course, and I'm going to pick up some of the books soon myself. :)

Murasa > anything you would even consider as your avatar.
Apart from maybe Konngara. But material of her is limited.

I'm proud of my JPEG artefacts.

I struggle to see what is weird about piggy backs.

I was under the impression that mine was the best. Is it not?

Why does the picture quality keep going down? It should be better than this. Nevermind, I fixed it.

Then again, it's a lot better than poop like World God Only Knows. But if I can give Death Note a 7, I can't see myself giving Frontier any higher.

Also:

I don't know where this HD version of the '82 OP came from, but it is sick. The song is a winner too.

Oi.

Dude, that's as much the 82 opening as I am a russian astronaut. It has nods to the original opening but it's totally absolutely new everywhere. And it looks sick indeed. Any info on why it was made? Are they going to redo the original Macross/Robotech story?

I can tell it's absolutely new. It pretty much remade the opening bit with the plane rising. The video has no info on it.

There are also other nods to the original opening aside from the first scene of the plane taking off, as well. A shame it doesn't have any info on it whatsoever ):

How on earth is one even supposed to watch Macross outside of Japan, anyway?

That's a good question, one which deserves an answer. So I went on the internet and I found this:

I also found this - it's the TV Tropes page for Macross, which sadly indicates that there's no legal way to watch it outside of Japan, unless you want to watch Robotech. There may or may not be other ways to watch it if you live in Barbarian Territory (read:not Japan), ways which may or may not be of dubious legality and which I have no intention of describing any further.

And since you're going to say something along the lines of "Hey! Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Gibraltar, the Falkland Islands and Isle Of Man are nowhere near North America!", I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that it is incredibly unlikely that an anime studio would license an English dub on your side of the Pond but not mine.

The same way the majority of non-Japan-based anime fans do.

Anyway, I'm in the middle of the theatrical Macross Frontier False Songstress (Itsuwari no Utahime). It basically retells the first-half of the TV series, but so far it's got differences.

The most intriguing one so far, and this doesn't spoil anything major, is how Sheryl knows the song Aimo, because in the series when Ranka first sings to Alto, she sings a song written by Sheryl, and Sheryl makes a surprise appearance by joining in. Here, she does the same, but the unusual part is how Sheryl questions how Ranka knows of the song, whereas Ranka does the exact same after she leaves. In the series, only Ranka knows this mysterious song.

I thought ADV/Manga Entertainment did the Macross/Robotech series in English.

Well, that was a completely different ride. Now I need to get on Wings of Goodbye. Gotta get this done while it remains fresh in my memory.

Dang, I just realized how few idol anime there are. I can only find few attractive music genre anime, so a somewhat sub-genre would be harder.

Beck is the only one I've dared to try to watch but it could not keep me interested. I'd like to return to it and try again because the soundtrack to it is smashing.
