Hah - I was just talking about this last month with a geology mad made of mine - it's a lake next to a river that used to be a bend in the river, but the river's ended up going straight and cutting it off.

A chain is the distance of 22 yards is the length of the pitch (from wicket to wicket) in cricket.
 
If you got that right you deserve a medal (being from a non-cricketing nation and all)
