I just read that lake is 5712 feet deep. Go figure.

The deepest lake in the world is Lake Baikal in Siberia, Russia. It is a natural lake that is 5,712 feet (1,741 meters) deep. That's more than one mile straight down!

HaHa.

In the early times of WWII, the Spitfire and the Me-109 were evenly matched in dogfights, except in loops. The Me-109 used this as a tactic when being followed. He would do a vertical loop and literally fly away from the Spit at the bottom of the loop.

Q: What was the fault in the Spit MkI that caused this?

EDIT: That lake is seriously deep

I'm gonna take a wild stab and say the Spitfire had a crappy fuel pump and under high G loads it couldn't feed fuel to the engine properly.

👍 I'll give it to you. The MKI had a carburettor engine, the ME a Injected Daimler engine. After enough RAF pilots complained, they gave them injected Merlin engines

EDIT: you are it...

I remember Ainsley Harris talking about this but I cant for the life of me remember what it was
