This ****ing ROCKS. It's Jay-Z's new Black Album combined with the Beetle's White Album samples. If it were for sael, I'd definaltey buy it!

That sounds like the most vile piece of music that could ever be produced. Unless Justin Timberlake releases another album.

Are you saying such a thing exists?

My thoughts exactly.

I might as well beat my cat if I want to hear that.

So quick to judge before you even hear any of the music. It's so perfect it rivals the Black Album itself. But then again, I feel it's pretty obvious that you guys don't listen to hip hop and will only to continue to bash it. If you wanna be an obnoxious moron, well then I guess keep posting, but if you actually wanna listen to the Grey Album and enjoy it then post some positive comments.

I like hip hop. Just not garbage like Jay Z. His music is awful and adding the Beatles to the mix just makes me hate him more. H to the izzo, V to the izza. Wow, awesome, dip****.

He sucks - I'll go listen to some Deep Puddly Dynamics or Deltron 3030 instead.

How the hell do I listen to the Grey Album? You stated that it isn't being sold.

omg no...
someone, PLEASE, shoot JayZ!!! please!!!
I agree with klostrophobic. it might be the vilest piece of **** ever produced. I'll also stick with the Deltron!

Cano

and who cares if it's the 21st century??? IT SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!!!

^ what cano and klos said. Except that I'll add that 90% of post 1998 rap/hiphop is pure and utter crap

This is the 21st Century.... Also, for the record, Rocafella is THE best record label out there.

listen to something from Raptivism records (they're partly political activists and they're also trying to make rap real again). They're the people responsible for The Last Emperor who, imo, is one of the greatest lyricists I've heard in AGES. Also, try listening to Hieroglyphics Records (The folks responsible for Dan The Automator and Deltron 3030)

Actually, we do listen to hip-hop. You didn't say anything about hip-hop. You were talking about musical crapping.

I'm really in shock because this is some of the best stuff I've heard in a while. Everytime I get a new song I'm just in disbelief at how good it sounds. But then you can say" well Jay-Z sucks, blah blah, his lyrics suck, blah blah, sellout, blah blah blah, I'd rather hear something with some real meaning, I like underground blah blah blah..." Who ****ing cares about that stuff? What's wrong with just enjoying music these days? Who cares about their political message? If I wanna hear politics I'll turn on the news, not my favorite rap station. You guys talk about REAL lyricists and all that, then when I check out these people you speak of I can automatically think of a couple othe rappers that you love to bash with equal or better lyrics. And who are you to talk about REAL hip hop? What makes you so special that you get to decide what is worthy enough to be deamed "real" hip hop. That's bull****.

Because they're all the same. They rarely EVER do anything unique nowadays. Because they just can't make good music these days.
This spoof CLEARLY defines everything wrong with the music industry and the essay included elaborates further

Raptivism Records is just one weird exception to the rule when you complained about the political stuff. But basically they're fighting to fix the misconceptions out there about rap in general. Unfortunately, In a field swamped with musicians that attempt to fill those misconceptions and stereotypes, they're not going to go anywhere unless they release things different from everyone else.

Rarely ever do anything unique? Is that what makes them good? You're gonna have to explain more an that.

many of the beats I'm hearing nowadays are remixes of oldschool electro and hip hop. The lyrics rarely make any sense and are generally about sex, partying, chrome, bling, and occasionally guns. Face it - new rap is nothing more than pop and many new rappers are the equivilant of justin timberlake or n'stinc.

OMG! TERRIBLE MUSIC! RUN!

A lot of underground music is garbage, too. The indie bands just have a better chance to produce good music because they don't have to listen to some label executive. And they usually don't just produce music for the money.

I'm sure a lot of mainstream artists could produce good music if they were given the chance, but they just have to produce what sells to 14 year old boys and girls who are spoonfed MTV all day long.

I'll listen to anything. I don't give a **** if it's popular or not. I've given lots of ****ty artists a chance, and Jay-Z is one of them. The whole point is that he sucks, no matter how you look at it. Don't try to defend your point by saying that we're anti-rap, or afraid of anything popular. I respect the tastes of the people who have posted in this thread, and I think that, like me, they are very open minded. Just like me, they're open to GOOD music, and Jay-Z doesn't fit into that category for us.

Also, it is an insult to the Beatles for him to be sampling their music.

Have you even heard any of Jay-Z's albums? Cause I can tell you that his "hits" that you hear on the radio are usually one of the lesser songs on his albums.

Also, none of you guys have commented directly on the music I posted about. All I heard is "Jay-Z sucks..." And another thing, Jay-Z didn't sample anybody. He did not produce the Grey Album, nor did he have any part in it. DJ Danger Mouse simply took acapella versions of all the songs from the Black Album and did the samples himself.

How the hell were we supposed to know that DJ Danger Mouse produced it?

Where can I listen to this Grey album legally? I'd like to think that it's good, but I have yet to hear anything even closely related to Jay Z sound good.

I've heard bits of The Blue Print and his latest album. I don't listen to the radio or watch MTV anymore, so I haven't heard any of his hits since Big Pimpin'.

every bit of what he said holds true here - we didn't know 'bout Danger Mouse

@ klos, the album is a grey market mix tape. You'll either have to purchase online or get it from umm...other... means - pm me if you need help with that bit.

Seriously guy, settle yourself down. You can't make everyone like the same sorta music you like. If that was possible then everyone in the world would love every single genre of music that exists.

Just remember. YOU like this music because it makes YOU feel good. Who cares about all the other dipsticks out there who can't be bothered edumacating themselves?

I've edumacated myself in the field ofJay-Z and I came to the conclusion that he is awful. Just downright awful.

But hey, I listen to Sigur Ros so my musical taste is suspect.

so I'm not alone?

imho, the sound in the danger mouse version was just too uh...cluttered. Too much going on at the same time in some of the songs.

When it comes to hip hop I usually like the music and the beat as long as it's not derivative. As soon as some asshole opens his or her mouth I am instantly turned off.

Yeah, that about sums up my feelings too.

But G Love & Special Sauce rule, as do De La Soul.
