THIS MONTH'S THEME

Grassroot racing at its finest, last LEC's winner @Tuning_Maniac chose this theme that was both proposed by @996rick via the suggestion form and been used in GTS LEC #51 via @Raphaele. Let's hear what they had to say:

"Let’s go back to the roots – the grassroots of motorsports and have fun galore! Forget all of your Lambos, Ferraris or Macs. Cheap and older used cars are the heroes of “The 24 hours of Lemons”. In the real race series the cars must not exceed a value of 500 $. In our competition we go for maximum Cr. 80,000 [50,000] (in-game list price) and a model of 2010 and before. Unleash your lemons, be creative and have fun!" - Raphaele

"Grassroot motorsports at it's best, make something fun and get inspired by the multitude of crazy stuff raced at the 24h of LeMons race, where they only race cars worth less than $500.
"Because racing isn't just for rich idiots... it's for all idiots.".
" - 996rick

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

ENTRY SUBMISSION

  • The only way you can take part is to be a member of the GTPlanet forums. If you haven't created your account yet, click here.
  • Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
  • Unsure how to? Copy and paste the following: FINAL ENTRY
  • One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a competition.
  • You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
  • Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
  • Absolutely no entries which utilise edited/hacked file saves.
  • Winner gets to choose the following month’s theme.
  • The organisers may ask for the original image/livery and it must be submitted if so.
  • It's recommended to share the original livery online (in-game) to prove it’s your work.

ENTRY PRESENTATION
  • All images shall have preview images which may not exceed 640 pixels in either direction (main and bonus pictures).
  • You have to post two main pictures of your entry using the mandatory location and settings as shown in the quote below.
  • You are allowed to post two bonus pictures in a spoiler (
...
) with free location and settings (unless the unique restrictions of the week’s theme specify something else).
  • You have to make one post with ONLY the set allowed number of pictures and the FINAL ENTRY (see above) mark. If you want to add precisions/background story/links, you are allowed to double-post under your entry, but please put all additional images in a spoiler. The best way to do it will be to "reply" to your own post.
  • It is recommended you host your image either here on GTPlanet (via the Media section), or on Flickr
  • Not sure how to submit your image? Here's a guide for both methods mentioned above.
  • Do not attach your phots directly to your entry post.
  • A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
  • Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it; it makes poll creation much easier!
  • No post-game editing of any entry image is allowed.
  • Mark your entry with which platform you're on and which mode you're using, whether it’s taken on PS4 Base, PS4 Pro, PS5 Raytracing or PS5 Framerate.

MANDATORY PICTURES
  • You have to post a front and a rear quarter view of your car:
    • Mandatory Scape: S&Company East, Saitama, Japan (scape number 5)
    • Focal Length: ~80mm ±5mm
    • Aperture: f5.6 or f8.0
    • Shutter Speed: 1/1 Second
    • Exposure Correction: +0.5 to +1.0
  • Do not use any Filters or Effects at all and only the camera setting above within the allowed limits; the pictures are supposed to be as equal as possible for all entries and not give anyone who is a bit more savvy with the Scapes Camera an advantage! Try to stay as close as possible to how the video shows the shot to be taken!

NOTE: if you have previously entered, just go to Scapes > My Library > click your previous entry > Open Scapes > change car to the new entry, refocus and snap a new photo. No need to reposition the camera/car unless its proportions are wildly different.

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, start a convo with me, Matski or any other participant you feel comfortable reaching out to.

PLEASE NOTE: Repeat offenders will be disqualified. If your entry doesn’t match the rules you will be made aware of it at least once, so please keep an eye out for any notifications reaching your profile.

Looking through the gallery on the 24h of LeMons website and Instagram, and the list of cars eligible for this one, should be an interesting mix of cars and liveries! Very cool theme!!

That's the same list of cars I made.

Yes! LFG!

Although the LeMons car I started way back when was the Miata Touring Car which isn’t eligible but that’s ok. Ideas are comin’

First time I've tried to apply rust and such to a car, came out quite good I think. I'm going to keep working on this one, so if I'm satisfied with the end result I might update this post. Right now I have the feeling that more will be too much, but we'll see.

From what I've seen these guys don't really have real sponsors and just have fun with it, so that's what I did.
Also, all those cars are just held up together with tape so mine also has some duct tape to hold the bumpers in place.
Most of them also have replacement body parts and the livery is nothing more than a quick swipe with a paint brush it seems, so I've gone for that as well.

This was really fun to do.

Originally made this car jacked up and on dirt tires. No dirts allowed at Willow so down it went.

Treated this one as if I was really entering the race myself. Found a Z that had some front and rear damage, ordered up some new bumpers and a wing, but they didn't make it in time to get painted before the race. I was going for a "hand painted with a brush" look. This was fun, never tried anything like this before!

I also used brush strokes on my car. The hood only though. Very faint and hard to see but there. I was going with painted with house paint cause its cheaper. On the sides and rear I made it look like I painted over the failed clear coat. Again hard to see but there. Bet nobody will notice that the plastic rear window has been yellowed for age and has crease marks from being folded over and over for decades and has finally ripped being brittle because the wing is in the way.

Without a doubt some of the things we do will never be noticed by most, but it is those little things that I most like about making liveries. Now that you called it out, the yellowing in the rear window is obvious to my eye, and it's a great little trick I've never thought about before! Unlikely that many (if any) would notice the perforations in the rising sun window stickers in my entry, I wanted them to look like you could still see out the windows.

So what's with the Washington plates? I was born, raised and live in WA., so I use the plate on my cars when possible. Now there is three. Hooray for us Washingtonians!?

Hi,

it's been a few years since my last entry and generally I didn't had much time to spend with the livery editor.

So I recycled some self drawn decals from GT Sport...

As I'm rusty with these competitions, please let me know if I messed up my entry.

Have a great day!

This one really made me laugh, it really is like "dude we need a livery for this race". '' Alright dude, i know this old BASF car, i can replicate that for you, just give me a white and black marker'' :D
