I wish people would recognize this is what happens when you let Jesus' tears influence laws.

It's sad these things are still happening, especially here. Someday people will learn to live together, someday. Hate is such a wasted emotion.:(

Don't worry, some Southern State will probably issue an order to overturn any such ruling, along with a ritual cross burning and lynching, just to make sure nobody catches the gay disease on the way out.

I kid, I kid.

Every time you think we're there yet, it's some mirage warning us we're taking two steps back as a society.

You mean you don't get babies by putting your seed and watering it regularly?

Are you serious? You can't be serious. Seriously?

It's obvious babies come from storks. I thought this was common knowledge but I guess it isn't. :indiff:

It staggers me that in a civilised nation that such laws still exist and are enforced without any regard to humanity and without embarrassment. Horrible.

Let's hope that higher profile cases like this move things on a little faster.

This. 👍 I wanted to make a post to this effect, but I could understand how someone could be so cruel over something that has so little impact on anyone other than those involved.

In Russia, a gang of skinheads posed as a gay man online looking for sex. A 15-year-old boy took up the offer, and was brutally tortured (physically and mentally). Here's the link, but I think it's a bit NSFW.

When was the last time someone came in this thread and said they think homosexuality is "wrong" or "unnatural" or "a sin" etc?

He's a lot less theocratic and judgemental than the last one.

He tackles poverty and economic inequality, which are the issues that really matter at the moment, instead of using his Christmas messages to slander homosexuals and Muslims.

It will be interesting how certain sections of Christianity (Catholics) respond to this. I don't feel that it's simply a case of 'the Pope thinks this, therefore so do we'. A good start nonetheless. 👍

The men view homosexuals as "paedophiles", so it's okay to torture them.

Ironically, couldn't what *they* did to this 15 year old could be considered paedophilia?

That's the basic plot of the movie Red State, with a few changes.

Unless you find physical torture and dumping urine on someone a sexual act, no.

Considering this was a hate crime, I doubt this was the case in this particular context. So it was not an 'ironic' case of paedophillia at all.

Just an abhorrent abuse of a minor in the course of obstructing and obfuscating equality and human rights.

Physical torture and urine are both fetishes.
So are shoes. Does that mean everyone who wears shoes is performing a sexual act as they walk around in their daily routine?

Everything is a fetish somewhere. If this is pedophilia as reported then we all perform dozens of alternative sexual acts just by getting ready for work/school.

Everything is a fetish somewhere.

Nope.
