I see so many people on here who describe the X2010 & X2011 as 'fun' to drive and then there's videos on YouTube of people setting inhuman lap times on Nürburgring, as well as those that have golded the Vettel challenge.

And then there's me: I cannot drive this car. At all. I've practised but I just can't handle it, I've watched videos of people doing corners without even lifting off the accelerator yet I get horrendous understeer if I go fast and horrendous oversteer if I go slow. I use DS3 and the car is so twitchy that even driving in a straight line becomes a challenge.

I'm not completely hopeless at this game: I've golded all licenses and special events (except Vettel challenge obviously) and I think I'm an okay driver but the X2010 is in another league altogether.

So, is there anyone else out there who simply cannot handle this car? I can't be the only one, surely?

If you max. the downforce it makes it a lot easier. Otherwise, you're not alone. I never drive the car, except when I feel like bearing some people online.

Ah, gonna try that now. Admittedly I am practising on Suzuka, which is a pretty difficult track even in a slow car but I want to get the Suzuka 1000km endurance done and dusted so I'm planning on using the fastest car possible to speed through it. Been practising with the FGT but I'm pretty hopeless with that too. I think I'm better with heavier cars.

YOU BUNCH OF NOOBS!!! Nah, I'm just joking about with you. I too find the X2010 & 2011 to be real handfuls. I would go for the platinum but I know I'll never gold the vettels.

Then watch your straight line speed plummet.

In other news, put SRF on and everything else (ABS as well) off. It makes it faster, I know that. Really the best way to use the X2010 is to simply remember how invincible you actually aren't.

Don't use ANY aids - I find ABS off makes it easier somehow.

I've never locked up the wheels on the X1's, somehow I don't think ABS is even needed on these.

Well I could certainly feel the difference and I think if I could handle the beast it would allow me to go flat-out in the corners but, alas, my X2010 has a phobia of tarmac and would rather play in the sand pits all day. I think I need someone to build barriers around the track on Suzuka to stop me spinning off.

Dude, there's your problem. :sly:

The X2010/11 is a retarded creation, for wheel users only. Forget it to have fun with the thing & a DS3. Use it for b-Spec & a-Spec grinding (steering sensitivity to 0/Zero, set camber to 0/20, maybe power limiter) and then forget the car. :)

And when the Vettel challenge going to 🤬 you off, glitch it. 👍

Thing done. Hasta la vista, retarded car. :D

That's not a pleasant thought. Imagine crashing the X2010 for real. Identification by dental records, anyone?

But seriously, do you think this car is better reserved for those with steering wheels? I'm seriously considering getting the (Pelvic)Thrustmaster but I don't know that it'd really make things easier. I'm absolutely determined to get this platinum trophy, though.

Some years ago I went to a talk at Durham University given by the then Aerodynamisist of the Honda F1 team.

He took questions at the end and one was, how fast 'could' you make a car if the rules were simply the car has to be no longer than x, no wider than y and no higher than z. These, x, y and z being the maximums allowed at the time in F1. The engines back then were 3 litres IIRC.

His answer was, in short, too fast for a driver to control, because the G forces would kill him. He added that it would also be too dangerous to run on any track in the world as any accident would be a more like a plane crash with cornering speeds as high as 300mph on some circuits and many spectators would die, unless they were watching from a huge distance with high powered binoculars.

Gentleman start your X2010 or X2011!

I only drive this car when I'm intoxicated.. it gives me a rush going 300+mph when I'm caned full of vodka but even a maxed out Gallardo feels tame afterwards..

Really? I used a DS3 to Gold one of the Vettel challenges and Silver the other two. Still using it. The handling is not too bad, just very responsive. I set the steering sensitivity to max, so every little dab to the analog moves the car. I used to suck at driving it, now I'm so used to it, I rarely crash with it anymore. But it's not exciting as the speed takes away all the sensation of accelerating.

I think what he is saying is that the car feels like you can master it in a snap because it's so fast, but you can't because it's so fast

For me, the car can be handled on DS3 and the wheel. Slight inputs on the car will fling its velocity instantaneously. However on a wheel you are able to be more precise, which is one of the key things in mastering the X1.

The latest update has helped a lot with its handling with the G27, but the only time I have used the car is for the challenges, which I am yet to gold. With that update, it may well be time to re-attempt them :)

My biggest problem with the X2010 is that I don't "believe" it.

I found myself failing the times for the Vettel Challenge simply because I instinctively braked harder (or just braked), or even reduced gears, when the car didn't need it to go around corners.

I feel one needs to throw the driving preconceptions out the window and start from scratch with this car. Relearn to drive, I would say.

And have faith in the car!

It worked for me, at least, as I eventually golded the Challenge. But it took a bit (lot) of practice.

This car is very difficult to handle. I do often grind the lke the wind Indy event using the X2010, with minimum downforce and specially set up suspension, but other than that it is just too much. Also, it makes everything else feel really slow, diminishing the fun of the game.

The X1 is no different than any other car, just more extreme. Try jumping from a GT500 car on RS tires into an NSX on Comfort Hards and the transition is just as difficult. What it takes is time and commitment..aka practice..to sharpen your reflexes and build the muscle and visual memory needed to get the car around a given circuit fast and to find the limits of the car, which are considerable. It's not something you are going to do in 10 or 15 minutes.

Hahaha. The X2010 should have that emblazoned down its side.

It was the repeated changes from 7 or 8G left to 7 or 8G right in corners such as Becketts at Silverstone that would be the killer he said. No human could stand that. He did suggest they could drive the cars (drones?) from the pits. They were getting that way in the early 90s IIRC when Mclaren??? were changing the settings on their cars mid way through corners with a computer programme that could and did do this, sometimes several times in the course of one corner.

The result was a ban on data links from pits to car, although they still have car to pit links.

I found it near impossible to use with a DS3, find I can actually control it using a wheel though. It's such a twitchy sensitive thing.

I have gold in everything but 24h Nurb in a-spec and Vettel. Got silver at Monza but cant do any better just now. Funny thing is that I placed top 300 or something on seasonals at Monza and tried with the challenge just after and was about 5 sec slower:grumpy: tried with no setups in the seasonal and went down to high 57 sec but a few minutes later I couldnt get under the minute in the challenge. Did 1.04 on first lap and 1.01 on the second. Gets me angry when I cant relax in my driving because I get disqualified ( dont know the spelling:) ) and have to stand in the pits again wich gets me angry. Just sits and scream ugly words when thrown off in the sand because I chicken out in my driving. Got some bad nervs I think:) I have seen every youtube clips and tried every setups but noooo can do. Hate the curbs on nurb!!!! Hate the sand on Suzuka!!!! Hate the first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth turn on Monza when I drive this beast:sick:

I managed to Gold Monza using my DFGT, but that's only because you can take liberties with the second chicane (the one before the Lesmos). I tried the glitch for Suzuka on a second account but that's been fixed, as has the Nurb glitch, so they're both out unless you want to go through the pain of rolling back your GT5 version (not for the faint hearted).

I've been back to them both since the update and trimmed chunks of time of my previous bests, but that's also to do with the extra support I've built into my homebrew wheel stand (the deck used to be a little too flexible)

You can control the x1 with a ds3 but its not as precise as a wheel. Think its already been said in this thread.
