Something I never knew until today is Tetris has endings, which you can see at 12:00 and 14:41 of this video:

Played my mom's original copy of the game many times over the years and have never seen these endings before, nor was I aware it even had them. I guess now I'll play it some more then.

So I knew canola oil is made from rapeseed, a member of the brassica family (including broccoli, cabbage, and mustard greens), but I didn't know its name is a portmanteau of 'can' (from 'Canada') and 'ola' (from the Latin 'oleum', for oil), trademarked by the Rapeseed Association of Canada. I can appreciate that "rapeseed oil" maybe wouldn't be appealing.

Rapeseed oil is what it gets called in Europe. I don't think the 'rape' bit of the name gets given any thought as its just a common seen thing, as are the bright yellow 'oilseed rape' fields where the stuff is grown.

Something I didn't know until today is that Toni Basil's "Hey Mickey" is actually a cover of a song Racey did, albeit with a slight title change.

Heard Toni Basil's a bunch of times over the years and never knew this!

Something I didn't know until just now is GTPlanet has an "In Memoriam" banner for users who have passed away. I didn't know about it until I was reading kikie's post here in this very thread, and I also noticed JohnBM01 has too.

Must be a very recent addition to the site.

 Listening to some music for journey home, I have Brazilian funk and disco joints on my playlist. This song is not, but NOW IS on my playlist! Had no idea this song existed and is a tribute to Fittipaldi. Good stuff!

For years I thought the lowrider came from the Mexican community in California. Had no idea this is where it originated from.

This is called a "grawlix".

At this time, there is no Rosetta Stone to define which character represents what letter, sound, or word.
