I wouldnt count on it... they made a bunch of noise several months in advance when they did last year... They'll have an art car, just not for LE Mans...

True but i think art cars are great guys. Imgagine a corvette (bad) but a 458 gt2. Maybe something anyone would approve as an art car

Andy Blackmore just released his Le Mans 2011 Spotters Guide:

Click the picture to go to the page

his guide was released on 3rd June 2011 and was made possible by many teams who assisted in supplying liveries in advance.
For those leaving for Le Mans at a later date, we will release an update following Scruitneering on this page.

I would like to say a special thank you to Nissan, Radio Le Mans, DailySportscar.com, Flying Lizard Motorsport and Lola-Group who went the extra mile to help this year. Thanks also go to our other partners this year, Ten-Tenths.com, SPEED.com, Fourtitude, Speedhunters, l'endurance and Oneighturbo.com

You can also follow updates via Facebook (see link on left hand side), or our partner websites.

Only reason why they didn't last year is 'cause they drove all their cars into the ground trying to catch Audi....but, both Audi and Peugeot have new cars this year.

I'll miss Spyker this year, but they'll be back next year with a new car. But...Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Peugeot....heck all we need is a Mercedes LMP car and we've got the 1998 LeMans all over again. The 98 LeMans without the CLR.

1998 Le Mans (notice how Le Mans is two words?) didn't have any CLR's.

It's going to be a very tiring night and day for me. Right after the race we then have the Canadian GP... The next morning will be a school day. I'll be supporting the BMW Motorsport boys.

I know. That's why I had the distinction in parentheses Mr. Grammar police. The CLK LM was in 1998, and the CLR was in 1999. I was trying to pay tribute to Merc's GOOD year, not their bad year.

The CLR was never a good car to start with. They did have the raw pace to match Toyota at best, but the aerodynamical design was a big flop as we all know.

Lately I watch the 1999 Le Mans on YouTube and it was amazing to see how stable that Toyota was, yet the CLR right in front of it was dancing and wobbling all over the place.

It did look and sound incredible, though.

On that, I miss the prototype/GT mixed chassis designs from that year.

The Toyota GT-One will be forever be seen as wasted potential. Very very rapid and the drivers they hired weren't exactly slow either.

Isn't that what I said?

New Flying Lizard livery for Le Mans has been unveiled, I know a couple of you will probably appreciate seeing it. I personally quite like it, interested to hear your thoughts though.

Looks nice enough in these studio shots. Not sure how that will translate once on track. Their red/silver livery was distinctive and easily recognizable.
Let's hope it's performance is as good as there looks. ;)

Does anybody knows whether BMW will come out with another Art Car this year?
If they did enter a Art Car for Le Mans, would Flying Lizards respond with "Our Art Car is better than your Art Car"? :D

And in other news, the 80th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will be part of a 6 round World Endurance Championship series that'll be sanctioned by the FIA as well as the ACO. Link to Autosport story

Maybe the series title will have Le Mans as part of it? )

You know how much that reminds me to the Mercedes ads. with Hamilton and Alonso?

Just one week left before the race and nothing come out, so I take there'll be no Art Car this year. That Lizard's art looks fantastic though!

I am so amped about this weekend's race. SO many great cars go Luxury Racing! Go Jaime Melo! Go Joest Racing! Love the white and orange AM also...

This should be a fantastic race weekend. The GT field looks pretty competitive, and I'm sure theres (as always) no clear answer as to who will win LMP.

The spotter's guide has the AMR-1 Listed... I thought they weren't allowed to go this year?

Oak racing with 3 cars this year? Jeez....

Peugeot/Oreca-Matmut with a total of 5? That's also crazy...

OAK have entered 4, just that DAMS are running the #49 LMP2 Nakano/De Crem/Charouz car.

Pug expects pole at 3:25.5xx, according to Franck Montagny.

Also anyone know what time the race starts eastern time US?

I think Le Mans, France is 6 hours ahead (GMT+1 or +2, not sure which for CEST versus EST GMT-5 or -4 in the summer). Stupid savings time stuff is screwing me up. If my calculations add up the race starts at 9am in US/Canadian Easter Time zone.

Can anyone confirm?

EDIT: I just checked SPEED's scheduling and they've put the start at 8:30am EST. Of course this could include pre-race broadcasting because according to the 24 heures du mans webpage the race starts on the hour (I think 9am where I live).

TT13, there's a thread in this forum specifically to discuss this edition of the 24 Hours so you should ask those questions there.

Keep this thread for generic Sports Cars, LMS or ALMS or ILMC talk 👍
