The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

Has this race been interesting at all? I switched it on about an hour in when the SC was out and switched it back of twenty-five minutes later when the SC was still out. It sounds like it's been a bit of a train wreck.

Also, I wouldn't expect Audi to mess up in the pitlane. I see the #2 car received two Stop & Go penalties for speeding in the pitlane and for an unsafe release, very close together too.

EDIT: Wait, what did I just see?!

Did that rear tyre come off the car, then bounce and land on the back of it?

Good save!

Audi first and second in P1, with Rebellion a distant third.

G-Drive finish a lap ahead of the #35 Oak Morgan to win P2.

Ferrari, Aston, Porsche in GTE-Pro

Aston win in Am.

Nice to see some differences in engine philosophy amongst the big three (Audi, Toyota, and Porsche).

The scream of the V8 Toyota, the throaty growl of the turbo-4 Porsche, and the ever assassin silence of the V6 TDi in the Audi.

I hope Wirth Research and HPD reveal their package soon. They seem excited about the Indy derived 2.2 turbo they want to utilize.

I wonder if the trap speeds will take a dip or show some gains come Le Mans 2014.

NISSAN ZEOD RC TO MAKE TRACK DEBUT AT FUJI

Japanese fans will have the first opportunity to see the revolutionary Nissan ZEOD RC in action when the car makes its public on-track debut at this year’s Fuji Speedway round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Goodness that thing looks scary. Like the existing car on steroids.

Yeah, its a lot less underwhelming then the initial concept. It doesn't burn my eyes when I look at it  I expect Nissan's ZEOD RC to likewise have similar evolution into a real car.

The cockpit seems disproportionately larger than the rest of the car.

I think it gives off that look because it lacks the additional mass that traditionally surrounds the cockpit. So naturally on the contemporary LMP design, it looks small.

Given that they let the Open top car participate in LMP1 in ALMS, I hope they will make an exception. Like for the Viper and it's oversized engine in GTE.

The DeltaWing Coupe is a singleseater? It cannot drive in any sportscar series then from what I know.

Remember that the DW is Don Panoz's project, so it will be legal for the USCR because he's on the board of directors.

New to the forum. I work for Circuit of The Americas (just want to be transparent). We’ve got the ALMS and WEC races coming up on Sept 20-22 and wanted to get y’alls thoughts.

Have you ever been to an American le Mans Series or World Endurance Championship race before? If so, what did you think?

P.S. Anyone interested a pretty good discount on ALMS/WEC tickets? $59 instead of $79. Let me know if you’re interested!

Welcome to GTPlanet!

I've been to two WEC races, both times at Le Mans. Enjoyed every second of it, much better than Formula 1. In my opinion anyway. If only I could afford the travel to get there I'd love some tickets. Shame the wallet disagrees though :/

Sweet!
Please get in touch with the iRacing Staff, they're trying to get a hold of you to work a deal on licensing your track!
Thank you for your interest in GTPlanet BTW!

Welcome to :gtpflag:

Since you work at COTA, have you heard any info from your colleagues or others in the facility on whether USCR will run their next year? (Rumors are they will, but no one has officially confirmed it)

Hey look, it's the first Hybrid Gas-Electric Racing car to do laps at Le Mans!

Toyota and Audi were way late to the party, even if they actually raced.

Technically, Audi is still very significant as no one ever had a Hybrid Diesel at Le mans.

Yeah I wasn't trying to make Audi or Toyota seem any less significant. They did actually race in Le Mans, whereas that car never made it past the Practice/Qualifying sessions.
