hi guys, quick q about the alms race, what time gmt does the race/race coverage start online? i watched the race at sebring but the converter I used for the times gave me the wrong time for the quali, and the converters im using keep giving me different times for the race start

I think the race starts at 00:30 GMT from what I can make out using qualifying as a reference and the schedule on the Long Beach website.

cheers, I missed the start of race 1 and this qual so hopefully I won't miss any of tomorrows race :) epic weekend with f1, alms, btcc and WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP SNOOKER! :D so many all nighters in a row :/

Make that 00:15 GMT just to be safe. The ALMS broadcast just said the race starts at 4:15 Pacific time yet the Long Beach site says 4:30 Pacific, it's probably just pre-race chat.

@floats yeah, Ill probably get on the website from 12/ ten past or so
@drifting donuts yes, this is just an alms race, not an ilmc event so theres less cars in.

Was a shame to not see some of the P2 cars in quali

I heard on Radio Le Mans a while ago that a lot of teams would skip this round in preparation for a Le Mans test weekend that's due soon so it's not an issue with ALMS as such.

Well it is to do with ALMS and the LMS. Racing cost money and all the big teams want to race in the ILMC, America isn't the main market car companies target anymore, it's places like China. So they race in the ones with the most worldwide exposure and the most competition.

Yeah I understand the le mans series is a more European/international race series, but then I wish THOSE races were televised here in the states (at least on the net!).

At any rate did anyone catch what happened after that LMP qualify wreck? I had to leave to do other things during the yellow.

ESPN3 usually lists its programming on their main webpage. Under "upcoming" tab. It's listed as 7:15pm EST but if you live in a different timezone I'd check the site.

Oh wow, well done Bill Auberlen for pulling out on your teammate who had a nice two LMPC car advantage over the rest of the GT-E field, costing Joey Hand 2 places

Super proud of Jaime Melo's third-place finish in GT. Whatever about BMW lol. They won but that was sort of expected. 4 Corvette did well also. I was a little pissed at the Patron guys for that a-hole blocking stuff, but oh well. Aside from finishing on a caution the race was pretty exciting. The real racing battle was definitely in GT IMO.

The race was fairly interesting until Long stuffed it into the wall, everyone got fairly split up in the pits. I'd of like to of seen the Lizards take on the BMW's for the full race, they had a seriously fast car today. Anyway congratulations to BMW.

I was at that corner when it happened, and got pictures. I honestly cant blame Bill at all for what happened. Not only is the car extremely easy to stall, he was getting different directions from different course workers (Ive heard of number of things about some of the long beach workers today, including a few on track who turn their back to cars passing at speed). Add that to a very very small area of the track, and im surprised it went as well as it did.

Yikes. I presume a link to some race pictures might be appearing in this thread at some point? :)

Ill be putting them all in a picasa album. Ive got Friday pictures on the previous page.

Heres the best of that BMW incident

Remember folks, there's no W in BuMmer.

Next up: Le Mans albeit for the Test Weekend. :)Makes me wonder what the Hours for testing will be and if there'll be any cars running past Midnight on Saturday.

Livery for the R18 revealed. Silver cars with Black, Red and Yellow parts to make them different.

Pity the car is so ugly ... here's a pic of the yellow, taken from autosport.com

All 3 cars will show up this Sunday for Test Day at La Sarthe. Then they will head for Spa.

Black & Yellow, Black & Yellow :) Sorry just made me think of that song. So any test day results?

Meh, that's a matter of opinion ;)

I happen to like the R18 look, though I think the all-black was more becoming. Still, I welcome it against the 908s.
