I love the bass drums on it.

dududu du dududu du dududu du dududu du dududu du dududu...

IMO Fredrik Thordendal's best solo since 1997 (excluding his solo album (which rocks.))

at least one of them looks like Alain Jourgensen :p

The music's awesome... I can't stand the voice. Isn't there an instrumental version of Meshuggah?

In other news, if you like Opeth, check out Farmakon.

Your best bet would be Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects - Sol Niger Within v. 3.33. It has some vocals, but not by Jens. A lot more fusion-y too. Think Allan Holdsworth type solos.

So I take it you don't like Lamb of god's voice either, though it seems that nobody but me does anyway:lol:

I obtained Meshuggah's obZen album as well and it is absolutely awesome. My favorite song has to be Bleed, makes me just want to headbang wicked hard, now if only I had hair.

I think everyone can agree Bleed is the best. Unfortunately I tried but I can't get into many other songs on the album other than Bleed.

I have obZen in my cellphone but I didn't have a chance to listen to it yet. Maybe tonight on my way home.

Here is some of the metal that I listen to.

Children of Bodom
Job for a Cowboy
Sepultura
Soilwork
Skyfire
Mastodon
Dream Theater
Shadows Fall
Pantera
Trivium
Symphony X
MushroomHead
Tool
Rhapsody
Manowar

And the typical classic bands...
Led Zep :D
Iron Maiden
Black Sabbath
Metallica
etc..

Any other fans of the above? :D

Children of Bodom
Soilwork
Dream Theater
Pantera
Symphony X

I like the guitar work in Trivium, but the band in general rubs me the wrong way... :/

I think CDailey kind of likes Soilwork... a bit.

Symphony X are amazing live. The show I went to closed with 'The Odyssey'.

The only band I don't like (and I think Diego will agree with me here) is Rhapsody. Way too cheesy for me. In fact, Touring Mars made a thread called "The Cheeseboard" that lists the cheesiest songs ever. I pretty much cut the thread short when I posted the video to "The Magic of The Wizard's Dream." :yuck:

Umm...Soilwork ftmfw. :D

I like the Symphony X cd I have. I also really like Trivium, but I'm kinda in the same boat as c_f. I used to love listening to Trivium, but now they just kinda rub me the wrong way. Hopefully their new cd delivers.

Which Symphony X CD do you have, uh, CD?

Oh and here's the video to the aforementioned cheese.

I'll admit I used to like Rhapsody... back when I first discovered all this Folk/Gothic/Symphonic/Epic metal... although the music got old very, very quickly... and I got tired of listening to songs about dwarves, wizards, castles and rainbows.

I prefer my metal to deal with more mundane facts like death, destruction, necrophilia and the inevitable truth that we are nothing.

Yeah, it was the same with me.

Symphony X is one of my favorite bands together with Dream Theater, though Paradise Lost isn't one of my favorite albums. I didn't like their "new style" on it, which I think they did to try to appeal more to the American public. I still like it though, the production quality is much better than their previous works.

The Oddyssey is their best album in my opinion. Inferno, Wicked, The Accolade II, The Oddyssey, the new version of Masquerade... It's just awesome from start to end.

I'm really hoping they release a live DVD sometime soon. No, the bonus DVD from Paradise Lost doesn't count. :grumpy:

What about goregrind/pornogrind/cybercrustsludge-core? :dopey:

as long as it's in a drug-free environment, with respect to thy neighbour and love for the world, it's all good. :)

My recommendation of the week is a band called Carnival in Coal; French band of avante-garde fusion metal that mixes grindcore and death metal with jazz, blues, disco and even pop.

Seriously.

Anyone notice the 2k posts in this thread? And this is the 2 thousandth reply :D

And yeah Rhapsody's lyrics are a bit bad, but I like to ignore it and listen to there instrumentation. :P

A lot of the time when lyrics and/or vocals aren't my cup of tea, I ignore them. 💡 That's how I can live with the atrocious vocals from After The Burial. Check 'em out, they're kind of Meshuggah-ish with low tunings and polyrhythms, but they have a much more "deathcore" feel.

Ah, yes. The new one. Has one of the most epic album covers ever.

 Wow, that is epic. I've never seen the back cover before now:O

Lol, I remember you telling me about them. Jesus Tapdancing Christ, those vocals are horrible. THe music isnt half bad though.

Edit: Has anyone else heard In Flame's new cd? It's pretty freaking sweet. Seems a lot more melodic than their previous stuff.

I thought this was absolutely hilarious. I'm sure CD will think so too. :D

Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face

This is the singer (George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher) in an interview. The laughs start about 18 seconds in. (SEVERE LANGUAGE WARNING!!)

Wow, the new In Flames album is cool. I bitter more mellow and calm, I reckon, but I like it, it's different.
The full album is on their MySpace to listen. It is a sure buy for me; I liked what I've heard (much like the full album). 👍

I'll have to transfer my 70 Human Mage (Alliance :D) to Burning Blade server and gank him. xD
