Hmmm Bathory anyone? I thought bathory were superb personally, shame Quorthon is dead though :(

You just keep pretending ;). They will have all the blink 182 cds, piled along side avril,

You Can't compare Blink 182 to Avril. If you actually listened to it you would know why. don't make comments just because someone says the same thing. Avril's a poser, Blink-182 has been around forever and are more punk than most of todays new punk bands. anyway, back to metal. Anyone like Dimmu Borgir? they rule.

I didn't say that at all. I disagree with the name of the genre, because Emo doesn't mix well with Metal. I also dislike the sound. That doesn't mean I don't want people listening to it. I couldn't care less what people listen to. He asked for some bands, and I tried to cater to his taste, that's all.

3 words: Darkness Enthrone Triumph. All other albums are quite boring, and to be honest, follow the Cradle of Filth path of selling out to MTV.

Just got the newest album by Shadows Fall, and after listening to it a bit I'd probably give it a B. There are some really good songs, such as Stillness and What Drives the Weak, but in the long run, it sounds fairly repetitive to me. I just couldn't get into the whole album, but it still is a good listen 👍.

I liked it. I don't mind Shadows Fall. The song The Power of I and I isn't too bad, either. Good album all around. I want to get their first album, Somber Eyes to the Sky.

Forgot about that song, I liked that one also. I still have to listen to it some more and see if it grows on me. Some albums are like that with me.

I'm not much of a metal guy (While my friends claim they are...) I've been to the Ozzfest last year and was not that impressed with the bands (I liked Judas Priest and Ozzy... Thats about it...)

Anyways I like the sounds of Helloween (Keeper of the seven keys? or something like that...I should just buy the album...) And some old Metallica... The new stuff from many bands give me headaches...(damn I use that word a lot...)

I wonder what they are... And If there are any other bands like that...

Helloween? Scorpions and Kamelot
I don´t see any connection between Helloween and Scorpions style.

animateria, if you like melodic stuff I suggest you get some Stratovarius, Rhapsody, Shaman, Angra, Blind Guardian, Edguy music. All very good bands. 👍

Ahh crap your right, but they are german too I guess ;)
That´s pretty much all they have in common, and the fact that they sing in english. :P

Germany has some awesome Rock/Metal bands. 👍

Cool... So their like melodic metal? Anyways thanks for the list :)

Pretty much all of those bands are Power Metal, but some integrate other styles into their music. For example, Helloween are Power Metal, but occasionally head into Speed Metal. Power Metal is pretty much melodic metal, with the high-pitched, Iron Maiden-style vocals.

Ah... Well I do have a Iron Maiden album and I like it so I guess thats my kind of stuff...

anyone heard of Sonata Arcata? (sp?) They're okay. kinda techno metal with a vocalist that sounds like hair metal.

Never heard of 'em, but it sounds like a nightmare...

Blink 182 are more punk than most of todays bands?... Blink 182 are "Pop Punk" or "Bubble Gum Punk"... Most true punk fans see "Pop Punk" as a cheap meritless, messageless, substitute for real punk... It's a similar situation to the Emo/Metal genre... True Metal fans see it as a supreme contradiction...

That's not to say, I would like these genre's to dissapear... On the contrary, the evolution of music depends on such experimentation... Still, you got to laugh haven't ya...

It´s Sonata Arctica actually.

I have two songs performed by them here, but they´re both covers. One is Metallica´s Fade To Black, and the other is an Iron Maiden song, I can´t remember the name. Both very good covers by the way.

I still have to get some of their own stuff to see if I like it.

Sonata Arctica is not my cup of tea. They're another Power Metal band, by the way. I can appreciate Progressive and Power Metal, but I just don't like Sonata Arctica, nor do I think they're that talented.

Well said. Experimentation is always a good thing, but when experiments like Emo Metal go bad, you can only hope for them to stop. But they don't, because it appeals to the MTV generation kids.

I think there´s enough space for everybody. And just because you don´t like it doesn´t mean it´s bad, it´s just not your taste.

Live and let live.

Felipe, I've said all along that everything critical of a band that I say is opinion-based, and I never say that someone shouldn't listen to a band because I don't like it. I've stressed that many times. What I'm saying is that they aren't my cup of tea. I don't find them talented, either. That's all a personal opinion.

I was reffering to this sentence actually.

Sorry for the missunderstanding Matt. ;)

Sonata Arctica is pretty good (IMO) but not all the way good. I like the song "Don't Say A Word" really gets me pumped. anyways, would Lacuna Coil be metal? I'm not sure, cause the male vocals and guitars are pretty metal-ish, but the female vocals aren't. Because I like them, but not Nightwish. I think Nightwish are pretty dull.

Black-- Asmegin - Hin Vordende Sod Og So
Death-- Morbid Angel - Gateways of Annihilation
