The entirety of their newest album is ownage. If I had to pick three from it though:
  • And Death In My Arms
  • Focus Shall Not Fail
  • Tattered On My Sleeve

I fully agree... Fanatastic album...

BTW, the lead singer of "All That Remains", was once the lead singer of "Shadows Fall"... Just a little tidbit of trivial info...

;)

He is precisely the reason that I don't like either band. I don't like the new vocalist from Shadows Fall, either. To me, the vocals don't gel together well with the music. Decent music, though.

I've been looking everywhere lately for Soilwork's "Chainheart Machine" lately.

I'm also becoming very diverse in the way that I can go from listening to a Brutal Death Metal band, then go to some Black Metal or Melodeath. I never used to be able to do that. If I wanted to go from Brutal Death to Melodeath, I'd have to slowly get softer before the Melodeath could actually sound good, now I can go from one to the other easily.

You call that diverse? Try going from Death Metal to classical jazz without having to slowly soften it up :D

Yeah, I heard that on Uranium. He said the only reason he was fired from Shadows Fall as because the other dude was available.

Sorry, what band are you talking about?

Whatever, Amon Amarth, Slayer, Hatebreed (are they death metal?) to saaay John Coltrane playing Alabama

Oh! Nevermind then.
I thought you were talking about some band that would do that kind of change during songs... My bad. Only now I read what Matt said before. :dopey:

 I don´t think that would sound good.

It's plausible. I mean, I've heard DAMN good fusions of melodic death and middle eastern music...

Yeah, you'd never know...
There's a very cool track from Cryptopsy's "Whisper Supremacy" (can't remember the name) which is almost something like that.

Hatebreed (are they death metal?)
They're Metalcore.

By the way, there already is a band that fuses Death Metal and Jazz together. A band called Cynic from the US. They split up after they released their album in 1993 entitled "Focus". It's an album I want to get my hands on.

"Focus" is very good.
I never found it for sale actually, but I have it ("borrowed" from a friend). 👎

Do any of you like Nevermore?

I listened to one of their songs on launchcast and thought it was pretty good.

Nevermore are very good. Dead Heart In A Dead World is my favourite album.
I've seen them live too. Great show! 👍

When it comes to Cannibal Corpse, I pretty much hate this band. Not only are they responsible for the commercialization of the Death Metal genre and their status, but they are also responsible for exposing the genre to foul, insulting parody. Now, people who have never listen to Death Metal before will listen to Cannibal Corpse and say it sucks and ALL Death Metal sucks because they do the same crap over and over, being that it is just pure noise, and the vocals are flat-out sickening. That is unreasonable stereotyping and I hate it when people stereotype a particular thing or things that they don't even know. Usually, the majority of these people are those who listen to Nu-Metal, but some listen to Rap/Hip-hop, R&B, Pop, and any other crappy "lovey-dovey" music. No thanks to Cannibal Corpse for deliberately distorting the greatness of Death Metal 👎 :banghead:  :grumpy:

They're Metalcore.

Actually, Jimmy, the truth of the matter is, they're Hardcore, not Metalcore. Although this is quite controversial, recently, I have found out that Hatebreed is really Hardcore Punk. I went to Gaia Online and went to the Metal forum and asked the members there if Hatebreed is Metalcore. They say that they're Hardcore, not Metalcore, and it is a fact. Even in their site, Hatebreed says that they're not Metalcore in their bio.

Does anyone know of any metal bands that do a lot of instrumentals? I really love metal music, but a lot of the time the singing will kill it for me. :indiff:

Have you heard any Dream Theater? Most songs has singing involved, but some have really long instrumental parts. It´s Prog Metal, and one of the bands I´m most into it lately.

Yeah, I've just been getting into Dream Theater recently, they're a great band. I'd really like to find a couple other metal bands with a lot of instrumentals as well.

BTW, anyone here listen to Apocalyptica?

If u like Dream Theater might as well listen to their side-project all instrumental band Liquid Tension very very very good to the ears.

Apocalyptica's original stuff is also cool.
I've seen them live. Contrary to what one might think, the "energy" surrounding them and the sound that they pull out off their cellos is amazing.
Very impressive, I can tell you.

Wow, I'd love to see them live. That must've been awesome.

Their Metallica covers are great, but I really like a lot of their original stuff as well. I enjoy a lot of their slower stuff too. They're a great group. 👍
