Actually, Jimmy, the truth of the matter is, they're Hardcore, not Metalcore. Although this is quite controversial, recently, I have found out that Hatebreed is really Hardcore Punk. I went to Gaia Online and went to the Metal forum and asked the members there if Hatebreed is Metalcore. They say that they're Hardcore, not Metalcore, and it is a fact. Even in their site, Hatebreed says that they're not Metalcore in their bio.

I'm not trying to say you're wrong, as you may well be correct, but some bands don't like to be labelled, so they try hard to dodge a label such as "Nu Metal" or "Metalcore". Their fans (aka the people on the Hatebreed Forum) like to continue that idea.

They sound VERY much like Metalcore to me, but Hardcore/Metalcore isn't very separated.
 
I was watch some kind of show that contained gravity games kind of stunts and they were playing a rock song and I believe it was Stale or something like that? Anyone herd of such a group?

And you actually listened to them? Gaia's Metal section is a big joke. Its nothing more than idiots posting their favorite band. There's a 234 paged Forum in it just about AC/DC and anyone who says AC/DC isn't metal gets flamed.

Sorry, but the Metal and Classic Rock sections are nothing but 97% of the 100% being morons and knowing nothing about the genres. Espically the Metal.
 
i dontl ike much metal. im much more into hardcore. but i do like some.

borknagar, emperor, nasum, necrophagist, and so on.

hatebreed is most definitely not metal. they are "tough guy" hardcore. but they suck so it doesnt matter. good "tough" hardcore:

bloody sunday
hoods
(old) no warning
madball (of course)
rosary
life or death
no innocent victim
seventh star
 
I still disagree about Hatebreed. They have much more of a Metal influence than Punk.

By the way, there already is a band that fuses Death Metal and Jazz together. A band called Cynic from the US. They split up after they released their album in 1993 entitled "Focus". It's an album I want to get my hands on.

i dont like the album too much. i think it was a project band of the guy from death.
the musics ok, but seems like too much trying to do something different. for me :)

i have not.

i wasnt much a of a biohazard fan. i could only get into urban discipline.

hardcore for me is side by side, negative approach and SSD. probably my favorite bands. i think those bands had it right.

Two guys from Cynic (the drummer and the guitarist/vocalist) joined Death to record Human, but shorly after they rejoined Cynic.

how is biohazard numetal. thats ****ing retarded. maybe their stuff after 94 could be considered numetal, but prior they were hardcore. plain and simple.

Can I choose all of them? I don't think there's one I don't like. Hell, even their demos are great. Probably Human or Scream Bloody Gore for me.

First of all, if you disagree with a statement, there's no need to swear or get "over-emotional" about it.

Secondly, Biohazard started out fitting into the Hardcore scene, and while they started out in a fairly Hardcore style, this comes straight from their official site: "Biohazard was one of the first bands to mix heavy metal and hardcore with elements of hip-hop and rap." This kind of blending of metal and rap/other genres was the starting point of Nu Metal as we know it. As they grew popular they basically left the Hardcore scene mostly behind and started touring with Rap Artists like Onyx, etc.

While Biohazard may not be traditionally labelled Nu Metal, it's a tag given to them nowadays because their style of music fits into this genre. Either way, calling them Nu Metal or Hardcore isn't wrong, it's one opinion against another.
 
you could say that about korn definitely. they are around for ages, and were before nu metal, but they could be called pioneers of nu metal, what do you think?


as for biohazard? have you guys heard soundtrack from the mivie 'judgement night'? it is quite savage compilation of songs made by hardcore/metal/generally harder bands and rap artists. biohazard and onyx have a cool song there. but most important is slayer with ice-t: disorder.
 
Korn is probably responsible for the breed of Nu Metal around today, with bands like Disturbed, etc. Limp Bizkit would definitely be responsible for the Hip-hop-influenced Nu Metal around today. But Biohazard started a lot of bands off in that direction, which is why they have that association.
 
Their music was still essentailly thrash though, it's not like they used it in every song. Korn, Limp Bizkit etc. use influences of other styles of music in all thier songs.

Like icemanshooter23 said, they didn't incorporate this into every song. The song never took off either, and really stayed fairly low-key, where as bands like Biohazard, Korn, Limp Bizkit, etc, started the trend.

Many bands fused two different styles of music together on single songs here and there, Biohazard was a band that did this the whole way through their career.

I originally started out stating that Biohazard majorly influenced and is largely responsible for the starting of Nu Metal, so you've basically proved my point.

Meshuggah are not too bad. They get too repetitive for me after about 5 or 6 songs, but Destroy. Erase. Improve. and the EP I were very good albums. Catch 33 was alright.
