I think I saw someone mention The Mars Volta here? but they suck ass, especially if they are even considered Rock.

Dragonforce was crap too. :yuck:

I don't agree with any of that post. :)

The Mars Volta are brilliant. Not just because they're fairly unique and something quite different, but because they're damn good.

DragonForce don't do anything particularly ground-breaking but they do what they do well. Catchy, powerful riffs and a couple of brilliant tracks.

Each to his own though. ;)

It sounds flat... I guess that's the only way to explain it. All the songs sound the same except for the lyrics changing.

But do you like any Power Metal bands? (talking about Dragonforce)

Because if you don't it's normal you didn't like this one too.
 
Ok well in that case NU Metal and Power Metal suck ass (at least in my book). :p

in other news, I'll be jumping on the In Flames bandwagon now. These guys arn't bad. :D:tup:
 
Speaking of those, I've read a few weeks ago an interview where Max Cavalera said he would like to do some concerts with Sepultura again. 👍

I just don't know if Sepultura feels the same about it. :indiff:
 
If I remember what my metal head friend said... the vocalist or someone went from soulfly to Sepultura. ( Don't quote me on this though :dunce: )
 
Max left Sepultura after the band decided to ditch their manager - who was also his wife. After that he joined Soulfly.

The sad thing really is that Max and Igor (the drummer), who are brothers, haven't talked since then.

Edit: To each other I mean. :p

That's their first (and probably worst) album. You really have to listen to all the other ones or, at least, Morningrise, which is very much like Orchid, but even better. 👍

I would very much disagree... I am as metal as they come, but I'm also open minded... I listen to everything from Classical to Electronic, and everything in between... Musically, conseptually, and creatively speaking, The Mars Volta are incredibly talented...

You don't like them?... Fine, but don't try and make it sound like they don't have talent...

However, that's not really for this thread, considering the musical nature of the band (rock) and the nature of this thread (metal)... I just thought I would put in my 0.02 cents...

If you are implying that all metal bands have LESS talent then mar volta, and God forbid you are...then I'll uhhh I'll say your wrong.

BTW Mars Volta really are not all that talented if you ask me. I have one of their albums (got it for 50p), and it suffers from being very very boring. Check out Ulver for some real talent. "That's IMO", gotta say that or I'll be my a** (ho ho) flamed.

I can't see where that would be implied from what I stated... I don't tend to make such faulty generalizations...

To each his own bud... I used to be a producer (for a short time) for Liquid Records in NYC, and I can definitely tell talent when I hear it... There's nothing "boring" about their music... It may not be what you're into, but that doesn't make it boring... Most Metal heads tend to think anything that isn't sonically packed is boring... Minamalistic works are just as interesting, although not palatable to everyone (such as yourself)... Just like Metal isn't palatable to everyone (my girlfriend hates it)...

Anyway, lets get back on topic...

Anyone heard anything new lately?.. Any new bands?... I am tirelessly looking for new music...

its to bad best buy wont sell this crap. thats where i buy almost all my music.
 
Doing a little search for all of those groups, as we speak... I've heard of a few of them (Bolt Thrower, for instance), but I could always use a reminder...

I don't deny they have some talent as they have obviosly have gotten a record deal I just find their music annoying.

I know it's not metal, but I saw Bob Dylan live a few days ago. It was crap :(.

Any of you listen to Ulver? Amazing band if you ask me. 👍
