Is ghost reveries any good? I've listened to half the songs on amazon and I have mixed feelings.

As I type this I'm listening to death fm again. I'm loving Yyrkoon - Wind Of Decline.

You're and old man now. Time to go get fitted for your new walker...

I was kind of expecting that answer... I forgot why

Old people tend to forget things...

I guess i'm starting to like opeth now...

It may be old, but I'll take Opeth and My Dying Bride over most similar modern bands.

I liked it... it has a bit less "slow" moments, unlike the previous ones, but it's pretty good.

Interesting. I have been listening to random songs here and there so i thought i may buy one of their albums.

It's good (name me an Opeth album that isn't ;)), but I prefer "Blackwater Park".

I'm just getting into the band and i dont know much about them yet.

They rock.

Someone listen to Entombed? 👍

Entombed... the mid-90s death metal band?

by the way, anyone heard Ten Masked Men? Think Chris Barnes (from Cannibal Corpse)-like voice and music, playing commercial pop songs... hilarious! You should hear their cover of Britney's "Baby One More Time". They also cover "Genie in a Bottle", "Livin' La Vida Loca", "Disco Inferno" and a lot more.

don't know if its metal, but i my favorites are Lost Horizon and Symphony X...

👍

They have some great songs. 'Smoke And Mirrors' immediately comes to mind. ;)

I like "The Odyssey". And I'm still trying to find the mp3 with Symphony X's singer plus Dream Theater and some other guys playing "Cemetary Gates".

Well I guess I'll buy their new one some time after christmas then.

Anyone still listen to mushroomhead?

Haha, yes. I have "Blue", "Stayin' Alive", "Genie in a Bottle" and "Deeper Underground". Good stuff. 👍

I'll buy both the Lost Horizon records around christmas. :D

I got an early christmas gift today. A new tan leather wallet with $30 inside.

I of course went to best buy... I picked up Opeth's ghost reveries and Behemoth's satanica. Both very good albums. 👍

(I have not posted on this thread for some time, since my other pc crashed)

I have noticed some talk on death metal, it's what I've been listening to for about two months. I haven't bought any from Opeth yet, I've seen a video from them, they sound really good!!. I'm into death metal (and also black metal) right now. Listening a lot to Deicide and Cannibal Corpse.

speaking of which, since I've started posting in this thread I've gone back and gotten (through dubiously legal channels) everything I can get a hold of Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Pestilence, Suffocation, Sepultura, Cynic, Dying Fetus, Napalm Death, Death (the band), My Dying Bride and many others. I'm getting into it again, although I still listen to jazz, electronic music and all kinds, really. My wife doesn't like this new phase in music, but what the heck.

By the by, I also DJ this music, which is quite fun.

I've always used Metal as my way of falling asleep as well as my "coffee" in the morning. :D

I'm listening to the "Blackwater Park" album.

Now I understand why the **** everyone has been going on about Opeth. This **** is amazing.

I've heard that one is pretty good. I'll have to pick it up soon as I can.

I think the best one is "My Arms, Your Hearse"

Just picked up on two very good melodeath bands.

Insomnium and The Absence. The former are simply amazing, and if you like At The Gates you'll like The Absence. 👍

Oh, the early '90s...

Some awesome bands you decided to revisit. 👍

It's not an easy choice for me, and it's one that varies from time to time, but in the end I think that's definitely the best one.

Fear Factory used to be one of my favourite bands, especially the 'Demanufacture' and 'Obsolete' CDs... and 'Soul of a New Machine' is very good. The last few works are pretty good, but not as good as the old work, me thinks.

In other news, I've just gotten (through less than legal methods) Agalloch's 'Pale Folklore'... anyone heard it? Sounds old (sound quality), and the bass is almost nonexistent. Voice reminds me of Lacrimosa and the music of Obituary with the slow parts of Opeth. With a hint of Impaled Nazaren.
