Metal comes in a lot of flavours, and a lot of those flavours don't involve screaming. ;)

Integra, try some newer Soilwork stuff. You might like their "Figure Number Five" album.
 
Yeah I know I was just kidding ;)

I cant really recomend anything that I actually listen to though... There is always some screaming in one form or another in some part...

hmmm. vintersorgs vocals are a mix. borknagar as well but its the same brainnchild.

Try the Progressive Metal or Power Metal scene - it's filled with pretty much all clean vocals. Try out some of the Thrash scene, too. Avoid genres like "Neo-Thrash" or "Post-Thrash", though, because it's mostly filled with -core bands which tend to get very repetitive.

If you like a mix of growling/screaming and clean vocals, check out Soilwork's Natural Born Chaos, Figure Number Five or Stabbing The Drama, or try some Opeth.

I'm not overly experienced with the clean-vocal side of metal, however, so try talking to Emad or FatAssBR (Felipe).

Avenged Sevenfold's new album doesn't have a lot of screaming. It's like modern Guns 'N Roses inspired emo metal.

Don't let that put you off though, I think you'd like it.
 
Well i listen to almost all genres of music, except pop and hip hop. My favourites from the metal genre are: Christian Death, Opeth, Hate Eternal and older Paradise Lost.

Pantera??? I'm pretty sure Phil Anselmo created the screaming style in power metal...

Anyways... I'd say heavy metal in general nowadays is very screamy, so if you're looking for non-screamers, your best bet is looking into older bands/albums. Cynic's 1993 album 'Focus', although abit screamy, is very good, although it may be a bit harder than your looking for. The previous suggestions (except for Pantera) are pretty good, include also Jag Panzer, Tool and Van Halen. Also, by not wanting any screaming, you may also be avoiding grunting, and hence, forget about Opeth.

Some Nu-Metal bands are pretty much on the heavy side without going into screaming, such as Lost Prophets, Incubus (the S.C.I.E.N.C.E. album), Disturbed, Guano Apes, etc.

When you mention Lacuna Coiland Nightwish I think you're more into the Gothic Metal scene, by which you may want to check out Rhapsody, Avantasia, Sirenia, The Gathering, Epica, Therion, To Die Forand similar bands.
 
Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. 👍 Looks like I've got a lot of stuff to check out. There's a few bands that have been mentioned that I already listen to and love (Guano Apes, Disturbed [the new cd], Van Halen, A7X, Dream Theatre, [a little] Stratovarious etc...). Maybe I should check more into the gothic metal stuff since I absolutely love Nightwish. Again, thanks for all the suggestions. If you have any more keep em coming. :D
 
Integra, you should really check out Christian Death's album Atrocities. It's classified as goth metal/Rock and the songs are related to WWII. Simply astonishing sounds and magical theme :)
 
and since we're on the subject, check out After Forever's new album 'Reimagine'... I've just got it and am listening to it... it's softer than Lacuna Coil, though.

I also mentioned Therion, but now that I think of it, it's not in the same gothic style as Nightwish, which has a female 'operatic' singer. Or like Within Temptation, which uses both operatic female and grunting male. Therion on the other hand, uses heavily orchestrated and choral melodies.
 
You might want to try Mushroomhead. They're not the gothic metal but the vocalist has a great singing voice imo. Try the song "Nowhere To Go" or "Sun Doesn't Rise" 👍.

I didnt think anyone still listened to them. XIII is a good album. I like the one beofer tha but dont own it. they have to lead singers. Are they doing anything anymore?

I like stuff like Akercocke, Edge Of Sanity, Cryptopsy, cannibal corpse, Hypocrisy, Emperor, Amon Amarth, Immortal... there so many more...

true, but their early work was more along the lines of hair metal. They only got into the really heavy stuff later in the 90's. It's also not too screamy

Heh. Yeah. Even though Pantera denied having a hair metal past and considered "Cowboys From Hell" their first album (beginning of the ear-splitting Pantera we all know and love).
 
When I think hair metal I cant help but think twisted sister... Not to say all 80s music sucked, but most hair metal is pretty funny.
 
Earlier Pantera was Power Metal ... they just looked like a Hair Metal band. Though I don't consider Hair Metal a genre in itself ... image-based genres add nothing to music. Hair Metal is generally Heavy Metal.

I'm not a big fan of Type O Negative ... though Peter Steele is a pretty funny guy. I'm not sure if that's what Integra is looking for, to be honest.

Add Amorphis to the list, Integra.

Well, they are Gothic Metal. :p

Lyrically-based genres piss me off. Just because a band has the same lyrics as another band, they shouldn't be grouped in the same genre. You'd be in shock if you discovered a death metal band listed as "Gothic Metal" after expecting something like Evanescence, simply because they have the same lyrical themes.
