Thanks for the Chimp Spanner tip. Sounds like what I like.

Symphony X's new album, Iconoclast, was just released (tomorrow in USA).

Pretty heavy album, it surprised me as there are no ballads in it, though I'm liking it better than their last album so far.

This is its softer song, and one of my favorites:

Awesome vocals by Russell Allen as always. And speaking of him, his album with ex-DT's Mike Pornoy and some other fellas will be released soon. It's called Adrenaline Mob, and there's a quick sample at their facebook fanpage, should be good stuff too.

Anybody heard of Jungle Rot or Channel Zero?

Jungle Rot is super heavy DM. They're more violence-themed than horror-themed like Cannibal Corpse is, for example.

Channel Zero is groove metal. They're more like the other bands that you guys like.

Found these and a whole bunch of other awesome 80s hard rock and thrash metal while looking for workout songs. Icon, Talon, Tyrant, Cauldron, etc.

Ah Channel Zero. Amazing band, split up for a long time but back together now doing some festivals here in the summertime.

New Amon Amarth video for my favorite song from the new album.

I'm pretty sure most of the footage is from the show in Philly. Still can't imagine them at the culture room. The culture room is about a quarter the size of the venue they played in the video.

New Decapitated - Album leaked.

What do you guys think? :D
I think it's amazing. Especially that they came back after all the tragedy happened to them.

Well, over last weekend I went to the UK leg of Sonisphere Festival. Metallica, Biffy Clyro and Slipknot headlined.

Full lineup here: http://uk.sonispherefestivals.com/

Metallica were amazing! It was great to see them again and I was much closer than the last time. It was good to hear them play some more older songs too. Biffy really surprised me. I'd never really listened to them before, other than the obvious ones that get played on the radio, but they actually played really well. Especially seen as though they didn't really fit in with the majority of the acts and the other headliners. Then Slipknot was a great end to the festival. The crowd were pretty emotional following Paul Greys death, but they were epic.

Bill Bailey was a personal highlight for me too. I loved it. He did a few song covers, such as Gary Numan's Cars, but in french and other random things like that. Had a great weekend :D

I've been listening to In Malice's Wake - The Thrashening on youtube. Oh man this album is good.

Drum solo by Mangini

and Happy Birthday to John Petrucci:cheers::bowdown::eek::p:D :cool::scared::drool:💡👍

My favorite song from the album is Onslaught. What a great intro.

The king of drummers (one of them:p)

EDIT: Mike Portnoy really is the King:D

Portnoy recently spoke to AOL's Noisecreep about his roller coaster life in the nine months since he left DREAM THEATER, the band he co-founded and led for 25 years.

"The thing that breaks my heart," stated Portnoy, "is that some of the fans rely more on what's reported about me than what I'm actually saying at the moment. I see all these sensational headlines on certain web sites that misrepresent what I'm doing, and there are fans that react to that without knowing the real truth. I always try to offer sincere, heartfelt explanations through social media sites, and sometimes that gets lost.

"This past year for me featured the highest highs and some of the lowest lows. I mean, after spending 25 years in DREAM THEATER, something I'll never be more proud of, and then the experience [recording and touring] with AVENGED [SEVENFOLD], it's been some pretty extreme emotional stuff."

Portnoy is currently playing in a new band called ADRENALINE MOB alongside SYMPHONY X frontman Russell Allen, guitar virtuoso Mike Orlando (SONIC STOMP), bassist Paul DiLeo and STUCK MOJO/FOZZY axeman Rich Ward. The group made its live debut on June 24 at the Hiro Ballroom in New York City and is presently seeking a suitable record label to release its already completed debut album.

"[My wife has] heard pretty much everything I've ever done and she says [ADRENALINE MOB] is her favorite stuff," Portnoy told Noisecreep. "That means something to me."

"I'm energized," he added. "Playing in AVENGED SEVENFOLD the last year gave me this taste of sort of recapturing my youth, making me feel like a teenager a bit. With ADRENALINE MOB, that feeling is full force now, and I've never felt better about where I am musically."

How can you talk about the Thrash movement and not even mention Exodus? HOW!

Probably the only Thrash band outside of Overkill that can still actually write good Thrash music (Of the original thrash bands)

Here's a few other 80's thrash favorites of mine...

Such a ****ing fun anthem... Bobby is such an under appreciated vocalist.

I wasnt really into Exodus or Overkill back in the day. I dont know why but possibly because none of my friends were listening to it. Im sure i would love it but never had that feel from them till today:confused:. So those were the main scene for me:D:grumpy:👍:dopey:.

Found another new band: INC (Indestructible Noise Command)

Their new album sounds like Pantera lol. Their old stuff from the 80s is killer too.

Haha, I just noticed that. Yeah, they are Fisto approved.

Also found another really awesome band called Merging Flare. Problem is, I'm noticing a lot of riffs that they blatantly copied from other things. Listen to this song and the lick at 1:50 in particular.

Sound familiar? It's the Metal Gear Jungle theme.

Ok, I figured out Merging Flare's deal. Each of their songs has a flavor from a certain 80s game song. It's kind of a neat idea actually. Once I recognized more than one videogame melody, I knew something was up.

TesseracT are sooooo awesome.
Amazingly talented band!

The Machine Head - Song is meh.
It isn't good but also not bad, so like a middle thing.

Yeah Locust isn't amazing but I like it. Reading the description of the album from its Wikipedia page, I am pretty excited for it.
