The display also has the assist triangle, tach and speedo but features something entirely new. It wasn't given a name and it wasn't mentioned in the press conference, but we're 100-percent sure it's a lateral G meter. This horizontal meter had a small dot that would move left and right, displaying up to 2Gs in either direction.
What are the blue/red lines next to the tachos? traction indicators?

Those are the Throttle/Brake pressure indicators. Like the ones GT3 has in replays.

edit:? me dumb

I quite like the new look tho.

Ups.. yeah thanks.

I hope there's an option to turn some of that off. Looks like there's no odo or the other thing that name escapes me at this moment.

I like the look also. Espically where they put those throttle/brake indicators. They almost look like they belong there. But what are those circles to the left and right of the lateral G meter? I guess the far left one is the assist triangle?

More info the better. But it should all be by option.

I wonder where all that goes when you are in the 3rd person view? I imagine you don't see as much info.

I think there's an odometer immediatly below the numerical speed indicator.

I wonder what the four circles are for. The one on the left looks like the old Emergency Brake indicator, so 2 of the others must be Traction Control and Assisted Steering, so what's the 4th?

oil or fuel light?

and i think that just says mph/kph under the numerical speed indicator

Going by Prologue, here's what I think of the circle indicators:
assist light (prologue only had one assist light, remember), e-brake light, oil light, fuel light.

I do hope you can turn some of that stuff off though. I personally think throttle/brake and g-force indicators are better left to the replays & analyzer.

I think it looks a tad cluttlered, too...

I see a turbo boost guage, and below are two guages that one could be for the batttery. Remember of the talk about battery failure?

I know that some cars in the game will have battery guages, since they are hybrids, but this could be a regular starting battery guage.

I can see the G-meter being quite useful for drifting. I wish they'd made it a G-ball instead though, so you could see forward-rear waight transfer.

Woo, double post!

Yeah I like the lateral G meter, I'm not a fan of the brake/throttle thing but I can actually see it having it's applications and it may be configurable. I'm sure they'll have just as much on the 3rd person car view, perhaps more compact, I'm not sure.

No clue on all the warning lights, we have a number of things that could potentially have a light: battery, fuel, oil, e brake, and so on.

Wow, you're right. I wonder how that happenned. Everything seemed to go normally when I posted...

Happens sometimes.

Having looked at the image more closely I think the brake/throttle meters are a nice inclusion, it'll teach me to feather the throttle better I think. They're unobtrusive and yet serve their purpose, and look to do so more accurately than the replay style ones.

I do really like those brake/throttle and lat G meters, I just hope they include a odometer.

It does look alit clutted though IMO.

Hopefully they'll refine it further before we're using it, and we may be able to thin out the clutter a bit ourselves.

I wasnt keen on the throttle/brakes meters when I heard they were in because I thought they would be those large ugly bars, but I think the way they put them into the HUD is great!

There's a throttle meter in Toca Race Driver 2 - it's actually quite handy to get a handle on throttle position, particularly on exiting a corner.

some of those gauges look fuel related...other then that, it looks pretty good..

Mmm, my sentiments precisely.

I wonder how they're going to do the fuel thing, are we going to have a proper gauge, or just a warning light? A warning light would make more sense and fit more with the racing style, or perhaps an on screen warning that fuel is getting low, like the Pitting In message. I hope we get to configure fuel loads. I wonder what happens if you're too low, will you simply stop and retire or will the car auto-pilot itself slow enough to survive on whatever fuel it has? Good luck with that on the Nurburgring I guess...

They might put a gauge on the left side of fuel (like the boost gauge) or just a light. Maybe when you see the light come on you will need fuel so you have to go straight to the pits, if you keep driving the car loses power and splutters (lack of fuel pressure) but doesnt conk out completely. I hope it does conk out if you keep going.

Wow great screens, now some movies... :>:>

I hope we could customize our race suits and helmets.
