I'll settle for what I suggested in the personalisation thread: name and maybe a national flag on a quarter panel somewhere. It can't really be that hard given the ease with which image generators are made these days, that's all it would be, a small texture file. Helmets you probably won't see too clearly in closed cars but they're a nice thought for the open cockpit machines.

I hope we could customize our race suits and helmets.

We will.

IForget it had a blonde moment!

Is that the boost guage?
Looks more like a fyel guage symbol
and the needle is in the same postion on the last 2 shots even at differnet revs.

Thanks for the pics!
The HUD look awesome IMO.

Yeah I quite like the new hud, just hope the mileage counter returns :)

The HUD has a fading effect with Porsche stling, neat!
Haw, haw, G-Force meter (the bar underneath the HUD)is sick.

Yey, no more amber info panel (the lap times, position, and gear info)! I like the white effect better than the ones on the previous GT's.

Yeah that's a fuel gauge there. It would be good if we can choose what info we want to see depending on our view. Like in the first person view, I want to see everything there. But in the third person view, I don't want the throttle/brake gauges.

zero thanks for the pics man! great stuff!

It seems like they lowered the camera for the low loose 3rd person view...
I assume the bar just below the spedometer is the tach, in the high fixed 3rd person.

So we have an actual fuel gauge? That's interesting.

This is a little off-topic, but if we actually do get a lateral G meter (in this case, "G" does not mean "gangsta"), will it have the driving physics as in real life. How many of you seen this year's 12 Hours of Sebring? Do you remember the onboard view of one of the Audi R8s? I don't know who was racing, but on the Ulmann Straight, the driver was elevated up in the car, but when he headed down into the final turn, he dove all the way down in the car. I wonder how the driver physics will apply to the lateral Gs. I mean, if I raced that BMW LMP beauty, would I see my driver violently go down into the car during braking, while trying to hang on to the car? I tell you. I love GT/Sportscar racing, but you have to be like (pounding chest) tough.

is it me,. or do the last lap and best lap timers and titles look suspiciouly like the ones use in r:racing?

There's another thread topic for you to start John, whether our now rather realistic drivers should go the whole nine yards and compress down under braking.

So if that's a fuel gauge, the turbo boost winds up where, on the other side? Does the speedo actually work this time or are we still going to be stopping at 320?

That's what I would like to know. Where is the turbo boost guage? Did any of you drive a turbo car at E3?

New thread idea? Okay! It just means more sane, to the topic replies... then the "John, you need professional help," flaming replies. But no, I'm not ready to examine actual driver physics [yet]. So, the idea of a new thread for that, not right now. I just wanted to ask that as an off-topic question.

I finally managed to download the Skunkwerx 160 Meg video on the weekend...

And I love the HUD... I was gonna make a new topic on it... but then I searched and found this one...

I really like the way the Accelerator and Brake are part of the two main dials.

The new colours are pretty sweet and as the HUD in prologue has a fuel warning light (it doesn't come on but it is the right silouhette for it on light courses!) then I'm thinking that one of the blue circles will be fuel.

I suspect though that the fuel gauge will only be shown on races where it matters... similar to the tyre gauges in previous games... so as most of the screens released are of what I presume to be "Arcade" races then I reckon it won't come into play until you play "Simulation" with the enduro's and longer races.

By the way though that is the boost gauge on the right not a fuel gauge... if you watch the big video you'll see it flicking up and down under acceleration/gear changes...

C.

I really like the new HUD compared to previous GTs... i hope they do include a fuel gauge and make it part of the game, not just for gas/electric hybrids (eg the Prius license test).

This may be an indication that you might have to do stuff when you pit (select tires/tire change, fuel, fuel duration) instead of just getting put into auto pilot. Would incorp more strategy esp in longer races... do i use a 2 stopper, 3 stopper... splash and go, etc.

I still don't see the lap record shown. I was hoping that would make it back from GT1. :guilty:

That's actually a "demo/sample" shot... there's quite a few errors in the pic as pointed out elsewhere on GTP, it's not in game, and it's not the final version yet... we've seen some changes even in the US Toyota demo (specifically the MTRC and the G Meter there is remarkably different).

I've just got done playing my new GT4:P disc from toyota, and the Motor Triathalon Race Car has a G meter that goes up to I think 5, it was in the top right corner. Also, with the prius, there was this niffty thing bottom left that displayed how much of the Battery and Gas I was using, maneged to go two minutes without burning any gas!

Congratulations.

I'd say the Toyota demo was actually produced before GT4P or any of the vids we saw at E3, I'd say it's something PD tried to get done and out of the way as soon as they felt they could in the development cycle.

The thing that confused us about the turbo boost gauge was we had two screenshots with the gauge in the exact same spot despite 100% acceleration being applied (according to the little meters).

I'll settle for GT4 remembering my records, never mind displaying them on screen. Mine never remembers for more than 3 days.

Take a look to the latest posted pics at ign.com
The hud is :yuck:
Hope this won't be the final version!!! :scared:
