I sorry Razzbar but I did not cast you as anything, your comments did that all by themselves.

My comments were in response to other comments. I resent the personal nature this thread has taken, especially in having to defend my attitudes toward human life!

Dude, if you only knew... Nobody should see what I've seen.

'nuff said?

Peace 👍

Don't think you know more than other users about life.... everyone has their dark stories and everyone has seen stuff they wish the haven't. Some of us have even had to live them personally.

This thread has not taken a personal nature in any way, shape or form; if you do not wish to have to defend attitudes and comments that you have made, then don't make them. It quite a simple concept, you posted points that I and others disagreed with, and as such replies to that end were given by us. You entered into the exchange freely, no one (and certainly not myself) has attacked you, simply disagreed with you. Nor did we force you to post them in the first place.

In regard to the second part of your post, I totaly fail to see what it has to do with anything, as Diego says, most people have unpleasant stories. None of them have any direct bearing on this thread, nor to be honest do I care to hear about them.

Nuff said? - despite the use of a non-existant word - certainly.

After seeing this post when it was first started, I've gone back to GT3 and re-ran Deep Forest and I must say I cannot see how anyone can say the version in GT4 is 'tamer'?

As previously stated a few times now, with the elevation changes in the GT4 version, you just can't go 'run-n-gun' as you once could in GT3...To me, the GT3 version is the one that is 'tamer'.

PD did a good job in re-creating a new, more improved DF! 👍

I kind of agree. While the addition of paved runoff areas may seem to make the track tamer, Deep Forest isn't nearly as easy to thread as it was in GT3.

Still, it remains one of my favorite "fast" tracks.

I made a comparison between GT3 DF and GT4 DF some time ago. The issue then was how much the tuning had changed from GT3 to -4, wich was substantial. GT3 needed much harder settings to get the same laptimes achieved in GT4. This tells me a few things; GT3´s DF is smoother than GT4´s and tuning in GT4 is more sensitive and realistic than GT3.

I don't think it's possible to make any meaningful comparison between 3 and 4 due to the differences in the simulation. Cars and physics have simply changed, and the same car handles differently in the two.

My GT4 disk melted down the other day, so I went back to driving GT3, and there's quite a difference in simulation overall, although GT3 is still a smashing fun sim.

Aesthetically, I like the new DF a lot better. It's just prettier, and it's more manicured. The changes to the road are what you'd see if the old course had a few million bucks in improvements poured into it.

I still like it, but I still miss the uneven camber of the old road. There was a very exact line you could take very fast allowing for the camber. I think the difference between a perfect lap and a merely ok lap would be greater in the old version. YMMV.

the track is great. you really could imagine it being real.

You might bob, but I personally think that DF is just a little too dangerous to be a real track. I can't imagine it really being real. Like alot of people say, the most realistic Original Circuit has to be Apricot Hill because of all the safety features (at least 20 sandtraps and padded walls).

Look at Bathurst, that's not the safest track around, I'd say the mountain section of Basthurst is more dangerous than Deep Forst at any point. But yeah, the vast majority or real tracks are surorunded with sand traps and large runoff areas for safety.

I think the GT4 DF is fantastic. In GT1&2 it was very dark and narrow, in GT4 it's much brighter and wider.

Plus, GT4 DF has one of my favourite corners - the steeply cambered, 90-degree right, right after the kink with the paved bit (just after the hairpin at the end of the S/F straight) at DF normal. I absolutely love that corner.

After reading this thread i decided to have a few laps of DF with the Mugen S2000 in GT4 and keep a consistent pace until i got bored. after that i put in GT3 and again picked the Mugen S2000 and took it to DF. It felt slower and the track was fairly dark and not as exciting. It wasn’t that exciting to power slide in GT3. The old physics aren’t so great and you just don’t feel the excitement like in GT4.

Overall PD have done well to update DF.

Exactly. And that is due to comparison, right? How much it had changed was the reason I contucted the test in the first place!
My thoughts on DF was secondary. In fact, it was only a whim that made me use DF. I would´ve gone for Midfield, but I felt that that tracks layout had changed too much to be able to make a meaningful comparison between laptimes.

I don't think so because I think the file structure and compression used in GT3 is different to GT4.

I also preferred the older versions of Deep Forest. The road was bumpier in spots and a little coarser. The GT4 version has a couple of cheater shoulders added where there used to grass or dirt. It does seem wider on the back side of the course but I thought maybe it was because of less tree shadows or something. Some corners in GT4 Deep Forest don't seem as sharp as in earlier versions. I vaguely recall when I made the transition from GT3 to GT4, Deep Forest felt quite different to drive. I would say it is definitely easier now.

I agree it has gone through some changes. Like High Speed Ring. Way Different from GT1. It seems twice as wide than it was before.

I think Deep Forest in GT3 looks a LOT better than in GT4. the track looks kinda ugly compared to how good it looked in GT3. In my opinion, Deep Forest GT3 Version (especially when driving it reversed with the sunset) was the best looking track in the game, but it just got ugly in GT4.
