For all those people that are asking around for the Nissan GT-R (The Skyline moniker is now dropped from the name) the new edition will appear in 2007. The reason why Nissan has pushed the production of the car to 2007 is because it is currently being working on (the concept had only a partial equipment list to what the supposed production version will have) and it does not fit into the SUV scene that Nissan plans to join in on a wider product lineup at the current time.

or you could have just gone to the skyline thread to post this...

WTF does the GTR have to do with an SUV? The reason Nissan is waiting till 2007 is becasue the current GTR is a concept....concept and production cars are totaly different. They are doing a full re-design on both the engine and the concept. so It will look nothing like the concept did.

Think it's time I join in on this thread.

Having owned 2 of the cars on this list (S2000/WRX) and driving another (Evo8) I feel that I should give my input on these cars.

RX-8 - I really dont know much about them, I know that Ive been to my local mall and then had a blue one on display. I liked the color, but the car just looked to long. It was like trying to be a sports car, but it was just not. Besides the fact that Ive seen one RX-8 I only know what I have read. So therefore, Im basically going to give no opinion on the RX-8

S2000- The car I drive now. My daily driver. Im really not sure why people claim this car as a bad daily driver. Maybe because it has no low end torque? Im really not sure, all I know is that I drive up to 50 miles a day and in those 50 miles Im in a zone of fun. Maybe its just me, but I dont see why the torque is needed. I can move with all traffic around me at the same pace. And when in traffic I see no reason to go any faster. I guess I just need other opinions on what good daildy driver car standards are? The S2000 also is 1000X more fun then any car Ive ever driven, The RWD, 9k redline and race car feel of the car is a blast! I sometimes take back twisty roads to work just to enjoy it more!

Evo8 - My friend has a silver Evo8, the looks are a little bulky to me and it just looks like such a big car. But it has its ways of looking good. I really like it, besides the huge Mistubishi emblem on the front. And the big wing, yes I know it serves a purpose, but Ive just never been a fan of a taller wing. Thats my personal opinion and in no way am I calling a "taller" wing rice. I first took a ride in it.. with my friend driving, hes a fair driver and I was fairly impressed with the pull of the car. I expected the power to fall off as high RPM's came about, but the car kept pulling strong. I then got to drive it, and push it though a few turns. I will admit it was a blast, the car was very grippy and pulled hard. And felt quite faster then my S2000. We then raced from both a roll and stop. From a roll, we all know the S2000 has the advantage being RWD vs AWD. So of course here I won. From a stop, by my surprise, he didn't take me to hard off the line. I fought my way back, and by 60-70 mph, I was ahead. Also, just on a side note, Ive taken my S2000 to the track one time. I dont have my slips with me (due to the fact Im at work) But I remeber a few things off it it... 13.8 @100 with a 1.8 60 foot time. Also, I do understand the fact that an Evo8 with a good driver would probably beat me. Like I said, he is a fair driver. In no way do I claim my car is faster then Evo8's due to these races.

WRX - My first "sports" type car. Also my first standard. It was a blast, new car, turbo, awd. What more could you ask for? Well, Im sure most of you know that the 02's had many transmission problems. Well mine fell victom to that around 13k miles. But before that time, I enjoy the car. I modded it a little bit. Added a BOV, Downpipe, Full 3 inch exhaust and removing the cat, and a boost controller. I also added Rims/Tires to it. This car was great for all around driving, Dry, Wet, Snow, anything, I was always ready to drive. This car had to many problems for my liking tho. It seemed to be a "cheap" made sports car. Everything fell apart, I was at the dealership on a weekly basis and they knew me by name. All of it was fixed under warrenity due to the fact it was also faulty parts. But it was just a pain and the car was also in the shop.

Summary - All the cars listed here and great cars. Everyone will have there own opinions on what car looks the best, performs the best and so on. But in my opinion. out of the 4 car listed here, after driving 3 of them. I would really have to pick the S2000. Yes, I know most of you are saying "well of course your going to pick the S2000, its you car" Well. Sure you could say that, but I firmly believe after all of time I have had with these cars, The S2000 is the best. Sure it carrys a price tag higher then all of them. But you also have to put into play many things. My S2000 is getting older, and I have yet to return to the dealership once for anything but standard checkups. And on all those checkups I have heard good news. As I stated before, my WRX was in the shop all the time. Now, I know the 04's are supposed to be better... But in my opinion the things they said that were fixed, were not the things that went wrong with my car. Ive also heard about the Evo8 having a lot of problems. And we have all heard of Mazda's issues. The one major thing I think the S2000 losses in is the ability to mod it. Im not sure about the RX-8, but I know the WRX and Evo can be made very fast with mods. The S2000 is so tunned and "perfect" stock. You cant really mod it. Sure people put a Vortech/Comptech on them. But for the price (4-6K) and only gaining 1 second in the 1/4. (Only .6 compaired to my 1/4 time) I think I'll just stay stock. Which is what I have done. I've let my S2000 alone and have had no thought of moding it besides Tires/Rims. When I had my WRX, I felt a need to mod it, I felt it needed to be fastest, and needed to reduce the horriable understeer and what not. Im really not sure on how to end this besides mentioning the STi, I feel its unfair to put the Normal WRX vs the Evo8, In my opinion, thats like putting a WRX vs the normal Lancer. For the price of my car, I could of got a STi, I sometime have regrets of not doing that. But I then think back to the problems I had and how much I love my S2000 and the regrets fade. Overall in this group, The S2000 wins as an overall car. Its reliable, quick, handles amazing, looks good, and is a blast. No other car that is listed here has that.

If you made if though all of that, give yourself a pat on the back. Im sure most of you wont read of it, but its alright. This is just my personal opinion on these cars and I just thought I would share.

Thanks

i think that some people say the s2000s torque is too low, because they only give opinions based off of what they ve read, not on what they re own real opinions would be if they actually drove the car. the person might still think the torques too low after driving it, but he made that opinion before he even drove it, and without being sure about it. like when they read about how the torque is too low for normal driving, they make a big deal out of it, and tell everyone yea it doesnt have enough torque for everyday driving, when thats only the authors opinion.

Blah, due to the time I had making my previous post. I forgot to mention the 350z. My mistake. But is also shows you how much the car means to me and what I have to say about it.

350z - I looked into the 350z A LOT before buying my S2000. My sister owns one (Track) and she let me drive it for the day. I really enjoyed the car and it got a lot of looks. I will admit that I like the styling on the 350z better then they S2000. But please remeber, Brembo's, 18 inch Volks, and a decent lowering job from the factory will make a car look pretty nice. While looking into the car, my sister started having a lot of problems with her car. First the ac belt started to tear due to something being faulty (I never heard the whole story) Then, she started getting check engine lights for no reason, She had to take it to Nissan over 10 times to keep getting it reflashed. When the computer was ran it showed no errors or anything wrong, but for some reason, the light still kept coming on. They then released when they called a "Nismo Race" type tune for the car, that would fix the Engine light and make the car perform better. She had to pay 35$ for the flash which was a bunch of Bull **** in my opinion. But, after this flash, less then a month later the light came back. This time her car was at the dealership for more then a week and they tried to get a Geo Metro for a renta car. The ECU would not respond to them and would not give off any reading, nor would it accept to be reflashed, but somehow the car was still running is what they told us. So they ordered a new ECU, and while installing the new one, they found that some "important" wires on the ECU wirring had melted. Due to who knows what. After all of this, and they ****ty service that she receviced. I decide to go back with my orginal car that I wanted, the S2000. But dont get me wrong, its a nice car, I love the looks, and it performs very well.. But whats the point of a car performing well if it cant hold up to it. Or even better, my sisters daily driving without getting on it.

I suppose reliability means a lot to me. I dont see the purpose of having a car that performs well if it cant hold up to it.

Sorry I have to make this fast again.. if I think of anything I forgot to say. I will make sure to come back and post..

Thanks again

 Thats becasue there are tons of little kids who cant drive but think they know everything.

I seen that video of RX7 vs the 4 Door Integra. Its a nice video and the Teg kept up with the RX7 all through the track.. amazing!
If i am correct the driver of the RX7 is Keiichi Tsuchiya racing the Honda Integra Type R (4 door) which was driven by Gansan. The Integra is known for its handling, ive seen it roast a S2000 in a best motoring race, amazing it not only beat the S2000 but it also put a better lap time then the FR machine. Integra Type R is probably the best FWD car ever IMO!

I voted for the Mitsubishi Evolution VIII. Its an very fast car and cheap even though there interior is cheap and plastic I still love it. I perfer the older Evolution then the newer one, nothing like a blue Mitsubishi Evolution VI RS playing around on a track. Subaru Impreza STi is a very good car also i wouldnt mind taking out the STi for a run. Just like the LanEvo I perfer the older STi Verison VI and the Impreza 22B.

The S2000 is an amazing car no doubt and the RX8 is a great competitor for the S2000. Both redlining at 9000rpm it must feel so good pushing the car all the way. Unlike the S2000 and RX8 the 350Z redline at around 6600rpm.. it maybe as fast as the S2000 to 1/4 but after that the 350z will probably win at top speed and from 1/4 on. I have ridden in a 350Z all i have to say is amazing. The S2000 and 350Z is also a very nice comparison. In the 350Z best motoring special the S2000 was pushing it hard. The S2000 can beat the 350Z threw corners but on the straight the 287hp V6 was able to pull away from the 240hp Inline 4. The winner of the race was the 350Z.

In the same video GanSan a retired professional racecar driver took the 350 to the track. He had some very harsh comments such as "Nissan need to learn how to make better engines" and stuff like that he dont like the fact that it redline at 6600 but he said this isnt the sport car for him and it was a "shift stig" or something along those lines and on the bottom it said

NOTE: We do not know what a "shift stig" is anyone who knows email us at .... (because we do not have enough balls to ask Gan San)

I was cracking up like hell.. anyways its a nice video and the M3 and S2000 should have done better if the GT-R wasnt there. Were a few times that the S2000 was stuck behind the GT-R.

Heres the video if you guys havent seen it...

I dont see how these cars can be called exotics. The only real japanese exotic right now is an NSX. Would you call the mustang Mach 1, Camaro SS, and Trans Am 'American Exotics'? Absolutely not, because they arent.

What about the skyline?

No I wouldn't call any of those cars exotics but I would call the S7 and other saleen mustangs exotics, as well as the viper. the point of an exotic is rarity.

Yeah, but the skyline is now over in america. The R34 GTR is definitely an exotic. But the run of the mill 350GT aka g35 = not exotic. And yeah, I would call the S7, Saleen mustangs, the camaro ZL1, the viper, the z06....absolutely exotics.

by skyline I meant R34 GTR. :D

WHoa, I posted this thread 8 1/2 months ago.

If I had included the WRX STi, it would have received like over 50% of the votes unless, some one voted for a reason other than performance. Like something totally stupid like brand loyalty.
