Btw, the RS200 is a lot like the 205... 4WD with mid-engine mounting.
You just can't beat that and so the only real problem becomes something like what I've got with the RX7- can you reach the potential of the car? If so the car will be amazing, if not the car will still be amazing but it probably will not pull scores as high as it might have (with fully realized potential).

Very interesting indeed!!!

It's pretty solid so far! I'm playing with a really soft rear end which allows a remarkable amount of control over the lift-over and very close gearing which seems to have all but removed the chassis' tendency to transition from lift-over to power-under - it's producing some pretty sick T1 times as of now - it's already blown past the R-tune in terms of both times and driveability and is rapidly approaching Mines R34 territory :mischievous: MAWD is definitely the way to go! I'm surprised neither Subaru nor Mitsubishi have built any production MAWD cars... perhaps a return of the Alcyone line for Subaru with a mid-engined SVX? :sly: Subaru and Toyota DID just sign a contract to collaborate on a small midengined sportscar... hmmmmm.

Allllllllllllllllllllrighty then. I'm back with a fresh copy of GT4, and ready to take my old & new BTCC-based beasts to you all. :mischievous:

Now I hope the PS2 works, the drive was closed with the disc split in two inside it. :nervous: If not.....thank god I got 2yr extended warranty on the PS2.

I can't believe how close a gears I was able to make that Garaiya with and still avoid wheelspin. I really like this car now, a track version probably will reach Aussie Tuners some day.

congratulations .., wish i also had me a nice copy of GT4, if you know what i mean.., :indiff:

*edit: i do plan on committing suicide, i will enter a car this is very hard to tame & tune.., :D

I'll be posting my RWD entry today after college. Might post my FWD and 4WD later on, still some things I need to work on.

meh, all entries will be new, including the FF. The tiny Honda just lacked grunt.. but I found a beast that does have tons of grip and torque.. and no wheelspin.

I'm not that stupid, come on.. big overweight sedans have no room on Touge.

It's not that stupid, a nice torquey V8 to pull the car up the hill and extra weight over the fronts to keep the traction. The only problem is as you said the size. I wonder what your car is...........

PS- I'm not sure if the Taurus V8 is torquey even, probably more than the 4cyl FFs I spose.

Edit: A couple more questions for Kent
Was my judge's application accepted?
Are we allowed to judge and enter the same category?

Well, I haven't accepted or denied any judge's applications yet and I'm alright with judges both entering and judging a category (which is partly why I'm approving judges).

Good luck with the tuning everyone!
(now I'm going to look over my potential entries and see what would be best)

Edit:
Btw, I suppose I should mention that there are a few shoe-ins for judge positions and I don't really plan on denying anyone. 👍

This is going to take longer than I thought with one or two cars. I will say that the Spoon ITR absolutely SUCKS on Citta, I could've trained a monkey to build a better car for that course. My 4WD cars almost done, not a firebreather but quick through the turns and very grippy for an S3 shod car.

1 question though, how are you guys timing your touge runs?? Because if it's flying start, I've been going at it from the wrong way and doing standing start. :dunce:

(Yes yes Kent, I know times are secondary blah blah blah, I'm just curious. :))

And as soon as The Stig has stopped crashing around EC, I will start scribbling my settings and put them up to the correct thread. Note: BMW 120i has 2 setups.. the one that's going to be published on MFT and is good for Nurb runs, and then the one i'll use in the CDA Touge-challenge. My 4WD is a fire-breathing dragon indeed, (Kent knows this already), and my FWD behaves like RWD.. almost.

Flying start - the only way to live :sly:

*Keeps :dunce: hat on* Rightyo.......start from scratch then.....just as I perfected the lower gears too on my 4WD car

*mutters* f%$&*@!)(#*&!%(!%&@^%)(&*!@@!%#@*%$#)*^$^&@!#%$%

(whole sentence self censored, essentially....I'm just calling myself a dumbass). :dopey:

The gearing is really proving to be an interesting element of this one - Each individual gearlength has to be JUST so to allow enough room to engage in the proper handling characteristics entering and leaving the hairpin - or to punctuate inertia to avoid certain characteristics.

I'd say that includes my favorite part of this challenge overall - tuning for a specific venue. It really allows each entrant to express the full extent of his tuning language. 👍 good one Kent!

Glad you're enjoying this event!
Although that was not my primary goal with selecting a single course, it was part of the idea. The main reason for keeping things on one course was another experience based decision. Last time I tuned a car (my civic) on Costa di Amalfi and felt it was a great car (so did many others). However, one tester gave the car less than great grades on the premise that it wasn't extreme enough (more or less). He tested the thing at Midfield! ;)
Now, with a course like midfield a FWD'er can put down way more power without serious consequences and due to the very nature of the course, a car made for the twisties isn't going to do as well as the high hp, lightweight car. Basically, I created a car for the twisties and ended up with a judgment based on midfield. :indiff:

That was just one more lesson in how leaving discretion in the judges' hands can create problems for fair evaluation. :ouch:

Edit:
Just the same, I'm sure all the super high hp FWD'ers built for midfield style courses might have been shorted a good score when the testing took place on a twisty track. :ouch: :dopey:

Yep, that's where Control Tracks come into play, and one of the main reasons most cars were tested at GVS in the VTC. But at the same time, when I was judging the hippie cars, I also tested at the 'ring and Tsukuba with differing results. If the track was Tsukuba, Leo's 300SL might've won the category since it's handling characteristics suited that track more surprisingly.

I just curse Citta beecause it's one of my less loved tracks on the game, mainly because the AI becomes a road hog during special conditions and you have to turn it into a demolition derby to get past sometimes. :grumpy:

My NSX-R is posted.

I wasnt a fan of Citta until I started driving it more for fun rather than just getting more % complete. But now, I love it.

Mafia_boy: I know what you mean about demo derby, but its possible with just a light rub, as shown by moi below :D

I may have found an AWD car to enter, seeing as the 3000GT is good at low power I will probably enter one. It may not do well but oh well. I liked the Ford RS200 but CLS has essentially claimed that one. 3000GT on its way.

See, that's what we need to avoid in my opinion.
I think it would be best to see two people tune one car. That's real competition and it would be really interesting to see what would happen. 👍

As for me, I'm still not sure I will be entering anything. I have a few thoughts but I'm just not sure if I can take the time to create something special. :ouch:

Btw, if you watch enough of BM's Touge Battles you'll eventually see more than one entry based on the same car.

Sorry, but me and CLS are both in Aussie Tuners. It'd be the same as Leo and Grey entering the same car. Plus I quite like the Mitsu, just its performance puts people off. Now that's my job to rectify that :sly:

CLS is a guest tuner for you guys. :P

Not a full-time member.

I think I might need to continue rethinking my RWD entry, but... The FWD that I'm looking at is yellow. And cute. And about as quick as it sits right now as Roj's Civic (torque FTW!)

Take the RS200 if you want ND4HS - I'm leaning back towards my old faithful... still a Group B Homologation, but it's a cheese-eating surrender monkey :sly:

It's a bit quicker and a bit more controllable overall than what I was getting out of the Ford.

If I have to I will go back to it. For now I'll try the 3000GT and then if that fails I'll try the RS200 or maybe do both and choose the best. To MAWD (Middle-engined AWD) cars going head to head might be fun. Do you consider yourself a member of sorts at Aussie Tuners CLS? Or maybe we just own shares in KC Motosport, that's one way of looking at it. :sly:

3000GT, eh? more torque.. but also 150kg more to held it back, not to mention large-ish body. that will be a challenge..

VR4 Turbo '96 model. The MR overshadows the trusty old VR4. Time to help it shine. Maybe if I go the RS200 the 3000GT will reach Aussie Tuners as a track car instead of a touge battler.

Edit: Hey Leo, I just checked the dimensions and the 3000GT is smaller than the R-Tune which is the standard. Plus I don't intend on leaving that weight stock LOL, that's this car's biggest downfall. That and high power understeer.

Edit 2: Sorry fellas, not tuning the VR-4 Turbo any more. In the specs I wanted it had almost 600Nm of torque which created power-on understeer. (no I didn't have a diff or VCD). I was just about to tune it out of it when I tested this other car. Similar power to the VR-4, but 100Nm less torque, 100kg less weight. And not the RS200. I'll give you a hint, it's very very similar to the 3000GT VR-4 Turbo. :sly: It's a full second quicker without tuning over the VR-4 which made it equal with the Nismo R-Tune. Time to make it that much faster :sly:
Have fun guessing what it is.
