I thought for a minute that you had Progressive encoded your image as when you encode your jpeg image iwth Progressive encoding, it looks crap to start off with but when the image fully loads it looks alright.

You know what, I'll have a try at this using "Iphoto express" just to see what I can do. It isnt as good as Photoshop or whatever you guys are using but it's worth a shot...
