How much more money, or how much longer until you get it?

I haven't played the game for about 2 weeks, but I remember the lev. 8-9 engine for the GT40 doesn't give a big hp increase. I think you pick up maybe 10-20hp..

I think the stock NSX on Gran Turismo 3 driver pretty close to my car... the way it handles and the way the steers... pretty impressive....

...and also the Z28 reminds me of the one I had back in college... (poor performance)
 
I hadn't seen anyone post any specifics about this, but can you put engine swaps in the smaller C type cars? Like a Turbo inline 6 in a Trueno? or a Turbo Boxer engine in a Civic? Seems like big motor/ light car combo would rule! ;)

Actually I beat TXR0 with the NSX, so it does perform very well.
 
There are no Hondas in this game, so that means no civic, but I do believe that you can put bigger engines in smaller cars. I put a Turbo V-8, in an FC3S RX-7

You won't like to hear this, but here it goes. In order to get 100 million, you will have to get a Gameshark, because the game only allows you to get 99,999,990 cp. So at your best, you're still ten short. As for money for totally clearing an area, nope. All you get is the last racer's dough, no more. Oh, by the way, there is nothing wrong with using a Gameshark in this instance, it won't ruin your PS2.

Go to a Turbo I-6. Trust me on this one, it is lighter, has a better torque curve and better hp possibilities.

You can swap a large motor into a small car, but the hp will be limited.

Thanks to all that responded. Sorry I missed the info earlier but I haven't got the game yet, and the thread has gotten quite large. I forgot that Honda wasn't in this version, as I was playing TXR0 last night and thought that swapping an engine in my Civic would've been cool if it was in TXR0....LOL.:D Are any of the micro cars in TXR3 any fun with swaps?

Don't bother with the GT40 IMO. The level 9 engine is like 1.2 million and even tho I have over 7 milllion
i dont feel the need to drop that much into that car.

As of now I'm 93% complete!! Every tema beaten from every city with only about I dunno 20 or so wanderers left, however I'm pissed that you have to use the game shark to get 100,000,000 to race that one guy from Nagoya right? Or is it Osaka:banghead: :mad:

i tried it out on 1 wonderer and it worked...........
 
Has anyone swapped in a FB yet, I just won the car and I hate waiting for the miles to load up, It SUXORS. And the wanderer trick (taking the disc out) works MOST of the time.
 
i just got this game today,i started with the rx-7 and now only need $500 more to get the engine uograde, i havent been playing it much though because i also got true crime(which is an amazing game).i've only beat like 7 people and 1 wanderer(the one with the rx-8).

If you are referring to the Mazda RX-series, then yes (I am pretty dumb right now, just got out of an Accounting 41 final). The swap is a great idea for the Mazdas, they have amazing handling when tuned and can be quite fun to race with. I have all three with I6 Turbo's. They are really quick.
 
Ohhhh 96% complete now. All of Nagoya complete, 1 more wanderer left in Osaka *cough*wirlwind fanfare*cough*...sorry I'm a bit sick... and then 20 or so guys left in tokyo. Has anyone noticed this game has taken alot shorter to beat the Zero???
R-Spec, don't you need the 100,000,000 for wirlwind fanfare to come out tho???

Yeah, this game isn't quite as long as the first to me, either. Whirlwind Fanfare does require that much cp and you can only get it through gameshark. There isn't another way, unfortunately. If you need more help, check my Wanderer List. There is a link in my signature.
 
I'm at 10 % something and I have the AE86 Sprinter Trueno. I haven't unlocked anything, when will the unlocking begin? I have Level 1 upgrades on everything (almost)
 
wanderers are basically just people that are wandering around, not really part of any team or anything. you should definently race them if you can, they usually give you more money than beating a team boss would, and thats one of the ways you can unlock parts and cars. the other is beating team bosses. check the wanderer faq for requirements, because require some pretty specific conditions in order to race you
 
I got this game on Tuesday. I've played it for over 16 hours now. Now really focusing on beating it (Although I'm close :D ) But rather on getting miles for the Engine Swap for my FD. This is easily one of the very best games I've ever played in my life. Good enough to have taken two days off school to play it :D . Now I know this has probably been asked a thousand times over. And I apologize ahead of time. But my question is: What would you suggest for the FD engine swap-wise?
 
Hey I'm at school right now but I suddenly got bored of the game because I made that dumb mistake with my RZ, but i'm about 55% done with the game. But they should let you make your own team, and choose your own cars for your team members and choose their B.A.D. name and stuff.
 
i wasted most of my money on cars, i'm still only like 93% done.......

i got a lot of cars and i'm fully moding all of them and doin engine swaps.
i got the GT40 and the C5 corvet, they're alright cars but the engines r **** (to much displacement and to little hp) so i swaped RB26DETT's in them.........

right now i'm only playin w/ the cars now, i don't really go t time to beat the wonderers. especially now, tons of ****in school work. maybe durring this vacation i will be able to beat them, but i might not have time, cuz i'll be workin on my real car..........
