I know a lot of you share my feelings about paint. It is nice to get the daily bonus, but I am currently at 372 chips, would be more if I was not a "painter" :dopey:, BUT as of today, I have not seen the elusive chrome chip. What I have seen is white, black and gray galore, for cryin out loud, how many shades of black can there be? The "randomizer" is in need of a fix. I guess when I reach the next multiple of thirty (210 cars) I will have to try the "paint trick". What number are you up to with no chrome?
 
I'm at 180 cars currently and I got at least one chrome paint chip... Orange Chrome or whatever it's called.

Some 600+ paints
In that periode I've received 1 silver chrome, 15 matte and 7 color shift

Most perculiar paint must be the matte brown, it definately looks like the first thing that comes to mind :lol:

I persuaded it to give me a Chrome Silver at around the 600 car mark I think. Took a few reloads. Not seen one since but not really in need of any more!
 
I got Chrome Silver pretty early and used it before I knew about duplicating items (but used it on my first McLaren F1).

Its taken a bit of time but I got the chip again last week, but now...

i have 600+ chips, i've used 2 chrome chips to paint SLR & SLS ( the silver arrows :) ) and still have 3 left....
I really dont know when i got them, but when i used the 1st one on the SLS i didnt had the 256 colors trophy.

@FosterG i'll give you one if you want, i wont use it anyway.
 
You get a rare paint every 30 cars, when the message comes up and its not chrome exit the game and reload(before hitting ok). This gets you another chance at chrome.
 
I got Chrome silver way before i had 256 colours in the shed! I only have 150 cars or so. Luck of he draw I guess

461 paints 250 cars, i was never bothered about paints, until i saw some beautifull looking chrome cars in here, and now sadly every day i check paint items just to feel sick that im still not one of the chosen.
 
Have you noticed another thing?

Paint chips (I mean the boxes in the items menu) frequently are very different to the final paint colour previewed in the spinning car model before you actually apply the paint.
 
I'm up to 520 cars and I've had two chrome paint chips; one I got for somewhere near 430 cars and another gifted to me in return for an F430 I never even wanted anything for. I'm pretty sure karma exists in this game, I've given away at least four cars for free but received stuff in return anyway (should probably note that none of those were duped, just unwanted or duplicate prizes).

One went on my ZR1 RM (the Ultimate Opal Black it had wasn't THAT great, plus that car earned me a lot of cash so I figured it deserved it) and the other on my 300SL. Which I have yet to drive even once. Hmm. Looks nice, though. I can never figure out what cars to put them on...

Has anyone put chrome paint on a standard? Can you even do that? If so, I think I know where my next one is going.

Edit: Also, the chrome paint chip is SUPPOSED to be difficult to find, so I wasn't that surprised that it took so long. The randomiser doesn't need fixing at all, I'm pretty sure each player is supposed to only find like 2-3 in their entire time in the game... Of course, if you want one, there are certain people who can help you out!

Very true. I have 3 different versions of British Racing Green and the lightest green was actually the darkest and vice versa.
 
i'm slightly surprised that a thread titled "paint complaint" hasn't yet metioned the whole paint system entirely. I've never walked into an auto shop, asked for a color, and had the guy ask me if i've ever owned a car that color. I just don't get it. I don't think its a big deal, but it can be annoying. I like black wheels, so i guess at some point i'll need to buy more cars black to get the chips.

on topic, i've never gotten a chrome chip and i'm around level 24 or so. i don't think the chrome looks very good, but i'd like a couple matte colors.
 
I've got 335 cars and about 500 paint chips and I've never seen a chrome paint chip. When I get a rare colour every 30 cars I always get Matte colours. I have at least 10 including 4 Matte Purple chips. I wish chrome was easier to come by because I would really like a chrome SLS

nope. i agree. the chrome cars don't look realistic to me, and a chrome car is a dumb idea in the first place. to each their own though.

I have a deal with friends, they send me black (and white) chips, I send them all my other colours, works great I have hundreds of blacks and whites now.

Also still no chrome for me either, but not fussed I will probably give it away if I get one anyway.
