I'm gutted level 32 A-spec and level 36 B-spec all gone.
Is there something going round because my Ps3 just seemed to act all funny and kept freezing?
Restarted Ps3 and went to go on Gt and then it said "save file corrupt please delete save file" or something like that..
Tried to restart again and it went to a fresh game.
Everything gone. Even saved photo's and replays.:ouch: Went into the option and tried recover lost files but it couldn't recover anything.
Don't have a Usb stick so couldn't back it up either.

Anyone fancy gifting me a standard M3 CSL for online racing because I think thats all i'll be doing for a while now until I get the spirit back to go through everything again.

is the M3 CSL expensive, is it premium? if its easy to get hold of and not extreme in cost i will buy it and gift it your way. if true, whats happened is pretty tragic.

It's a standard car buddy it shows it's face every now and then in the UCD. But if you come across it that would be very much appreciated. 👍:)

Is there actually anything going round?
Like a virus or something?
My Ps3 is only three odd month old and is a slimeline 320 gig model.
To be fair it gets used quite alot but it's not in a confined space and it has plenty of air getting to it.
So I wonder if there is a virus or something going around or is it my Ps3 dying?

This is breaking my heart. Seriously. You losing everything? trophies, music, vids, demo's? Anything else you might have on that HD?

It does sound like it needs to be returned. I'm just wondering if everything is deleted or just your in-game saved items.

TBH i've not checked anything else I more or less switched it straight off when I realised i'd lost everything.
I loaded it up once for Gt5 and it gave me all the instructions that you get when you first get to the Gt life screen.
Had a quick look and replays and photo's are gone. The only thing I have left is the friends in my list. 👎:sick:

I would check everything, do you have any enemies?

Not that I know of. But saying that I have booted a few people out of rooms i've made for unfair racing?

whats happened is pretty tragic.

No, children starving is tragic.

This is a dude who lost his saved games because he didn't bother to spend $5 on a USB thumb drive.

Hardly the same thing.

Hell people, just ask around your friends or something if for some reason you (or your parents) have managed the hundreds of dollars for a current gen console, the $60 or so for the game, and an internet fee for you to post on forums yet can't find a few bucks for a USB drive. Plenty of people probably have old ones laying around unused. My main backups are done on a 128mb stick that came FREE stuck to a Cadillac ad in a magazine about 4 years ago.

I feel bad for people who lose their data. Far less so for anyone who hadn't bothered to take the simple & cheap precaution of backing up their data.

Let this dude's experience (which seems to be repeated DAILY here on the forums) be a warning to you.

NO! gosh, people....

Real world here. Enemies, sister, brother, friend who could just get in there and delete, maybe little kid who deleted your files on accident?

Yo! hush, I'm conducting an investigation here. Thanks :|

My ps3 has been freezin a few times during load screen of certain tracks. Lately a lot of freezing through rome track in practice mode. However, I have not experienced the issue of losing my data like you have said. I also have a slimeline, I believe the 250gig one.

You know what sod off...
I'm not asking for sympathy i'm asking if there is a virus going round as my Ps3 acted really wierd and decided that my save was corrupt.
You must have nothing else to do with your time other than troll threads and post utter rubbish.
I know I needed a memory stick but I haven't got one as money is very tight at this present moment in time and as far as I was aware there wasn't a back up feature when I first bought the game.

No one's touched it except myself.
Today it's had a rest to be fair.
Normally bob is racing most of the day but today it's been off until about 10pm yesterday.

After reading this, I do have to say I tore my room upside down looking for my USB key, and I have now saved my 800kb file. One can only learn from others mistakes. However, I would also like to know if there is a virus or is it possibly related to GT5 game issues. (look to first post of mine, similar issues as OP).

Well, I'm going back to the donut shop. Just check the entire PS3, One thing is for sure if you had a total wipe-out and you logon to PSN it will need to update. I'm no expert, but I don't know how only the game data could be deleted and nothing else besides deliberate or accidental commands.

When I fired up the Ps3 it seemed to be acting slow even before I started the game. I was looking to see who was online and it kept freezing and then unfreezing. So I hit the Ps button and restarted the Ps3.
This time it loaded up fine and so I started Gt.
When Gt came up it did the same thing. Freeze, unfreeze. So again hit the Ps button and restarted.
Fired up the game this time and it said unable to load date file corrupt. Restarted again and it's all gone.
It's really strange which is why I wondered whether there could be a virus around?

I only have problems in GT5 and open beta of killzone 3, everything normal seems to work fine like Madden 11 and other games.

I haven't tried anything else.
I'll have a look tomorrow it's bed time for me soon.
:grumpy:

I'm not worried about the ps3 it's under a 5 year warranty it's all my save data.
I need a usb stick.
I'm gonna have to ask a few mates to see if I can borrow one.:nervous:

Would one actually need the reciept? Wouldn't Playstation already known from pluggin in and registering yourself through their network. So they will know how long your warranty is by your device, with or without a reciept.

No it wouldn't tell them much through Psn.

Are you serious? So lets say if i couldnt find my reciept from august that if i were to call sony they would have no way of knowing? My ps3 is fine im just conversing.

You'd have to get in touch with the place you bought it from.
Although I think they can get info from the barcode?
They couldn't take it from psn as you could have the console months before you connect to the internet.

Sorry yes that it was I meant. Sony would recognize the serial number on the back as that was registered the day it was purchased. You wouldnt need to get in contact with the original store you purchased from, as when it was purchased that serial would have gone into sony's system.

Corrupt save file = you powered off your system mid auto save.

Happened to me once but luckily i had it backed up on a flash drive.

I woke up this morning and started up GT5 only to be greeted by the screen where you have to accept the Terms of Agreements and also the the opening video even though I turned it off. By this time I was fearing the worst and I started GT Life with my fingers cross. There it was...20000 credits and level 1 Aspec & Bspec. I am so pissed right now, I dont think I'll touch this game for a while now.
I didnt get a message of a corrupt save either. I dont know what the hell happened

Or it crashed during an auto save.

With a game as big and time consuming as GT5 is, a method of backing up is completely essential, no doubt about it. Actually my first PS3 completely died the very night GT5 was released, so I lost about 3 hours' worth. Now it's probably over 300 hours...

Also I would rule out the possibility of it being a virus, PS3's run a unique OS and file system and there's absolutely nothing to be gained by taking the time to make a PS3 virus, they just go funny sometimes; mine crashed 3 times today but that's just the way these things are. It had been on for about 3 days straight at the time, so it's resting right now.

I fear for my PS3 every time I play GT5 now. I can't go through a session without having to hit the PS button and quit the game as it just sticks in certain menus.

The most common issue is the home screen being stuck in demo mode leaving me unable to select any game mode. Most common after that is sticking in the middle of gifting, once again forcing a restart.

I back up every session.

I have no idea what happened. It had already saved and I was just on the Gt life screen when it kept freezing so I tried to restart and it told me i'd got a corrupt file.
