I guess a thumb drive is worth the $5 investment.

Just finished it's full format and now it won't even start up.
Got a message on screen sayin "Cannot start. The correct hard disk was not found."

Maybe your Hard Drive is failing. You could easily replace it.

Hard drive has failed they are sending a replacement out. Should be here by tuesday. 👍

No, children starving is tragic.

This is a dude who lost his saved games because he didn't bother to spend $5 on a USB thumb drive.

Well don't be that harsh, :grumpy: that's just live doggy crap happens every day. :yuck:

I'm happy your ps3 will live again. But if i would lost my save file i would shoots my brain's out ;) if this happens before my platinum. No seriously i would not, this is just a game.

Something to consider that I just read..

http://www.mygranturismo.net/

"Important: One backup at time isn't enough, as if your game is corrupted, you may backup it without knowing and end with two corrupted files. So you need to alternate between two targets, or often copying your USB PS3/[gt5gamedirectory (looks like "BCES00569-GAME")] directory to your computer (always keeping multiple copies)."

The rest of the article entitled "Why and how backup your GT5 save file" is on the first page of that website.

About having a save file and a copy that are both corrupted... That's why you need two backups. You could overwrite your good backup with a corrupted backup before you knew it was corrupted.

I fear for my PS3 every time I play GT5 now. I can't go through a session without having to hit the PS button and quit the game as it just sticks in certain menus.

The most common issue is the home screen being stuck in demo mode leaving me unable to select any game mode. Most common after that is sticking in the middle of gifting, once again forcing a restart.

I back up every session.

That is quite frequent for me at times. GT5 i think causes great strain on the ps3. So I have backed up my file, speaking of which, I think i may need to re back up for I just got a lot of new stuff that would be a pain to lose.

Just continually keep backing up my friends. Should do this with all files. THe ps3 is a computer, you back up your computer, so why not the ps3? I have a USB stick, 200mb dedicated only to my ps3.

Is there actually anything going round?
Like a virus or something?
My Ps3 is only three odd month old and is a slimeline 320 gig model.
To be fair it gets used quite alot but it's not in a confined space and it has plenty of air getting to it.
So I wonder if there is a virus or something going around or is it my Ps3 dying?

nope, it's just Sony ripping off people by selling failure-prone hardware and PD rushing out unfinished products.

Well Sony failed me this week.
They was supposed to send me a replacement last Monday but now they say it will be this Monday coming.👎:grumpy:
It's doing my head in not being able to have a blast on the Ps3.
All I really want is the M3 CSL for online racing. I'm not going to be rushing to get through the game again.
If anyone has a spare car that would do one of the seasonal events that would be available this Monday that would be great too.
I've got a memory stick now so hopefully it won't happen again.
