I saw this today on DVDit's a good film, it's a vilent, watchable but pradictable take one the deathwish theme, Frank Castle is undercover in his last FBI sting and catches people buying and selling illegal arm's, one of the people involved in buying get's shot, he happens to be the son of Howard Saint (John Travolta who is asked by his wife to have Castle's entire family killed, as you'd have predicted, they all get killed including his wife and son and Castle is left for dead. The rest of the film is even more predictable, Castle goes after the guys that murdered his family and succedes and at the end he say's caste died, I'm the Punisher and decides to go after other law breaker paving the way for a sequel. The acting is okay, nothing too special, Travolta wasn't that good I was hoping he'd do well because he's dropping fast in my personal list of good to bad actors. Overall as said, it's a good, violent film, nothing special, it's a lot more seriouse than the old film and the comics. Rent it.

No it's not officially out on DVD yet. I got Hellboy 3 months ago it's not out here yet but I believe it is out in the US, I'm getting AVP in 2 weeks as well. I have about 200 DVD's at the mo, two of them I bought at HMV, the rest I got off my brother for nought.

i've seen plenty of those promotional DVD's in Iraq (although these were bootleg copies of those), and while they Were decent quality, they do not replace the Movie Theater. AvP comes out in theaters in two weeks, why would i want to see it on a TV first? i just think your robbing yourself of a better experience live4speed. but, then you are seeing them for free, but it's still not nearly the same.

as for punisher, i want to see that. I need to look for it. I expected it to be B-movie quality. But it looks like a good shoot'em up flik.

I still go to the cinema for films I really want to see, films like AvP and the Punisher are not thoes. I went to see Shrek 2 even though I had on dvd first, I didn't watch it until I'd been to the cinema. Basically if I wouldv'e gone to see it at the cinema if I didn't get the dvd, I usually still go anyway before I watch the dvd. And the Punisher is worth watching, bt I'm not too sure it's worth a fiver and then an extra 100 quid on popcorn (just a slight exageration).

I don't think the Punisher was that great...... Okay at max really...... Lame 'I know what is going to happen' story...... Blown up cars that make the Punisher logo is cheezy as it gets.... And where are the damn cops when the Punisher is going on a killing spree? No where..... When the damn building is being blown up? No where...... Where the hell is everybody!!! Is there only the Punisher and the badguys in the damn city!? They should show the Punisher hiding from cops'n stuff because he should be wanted!! To bad because I really was looking forward to it....... Well at least it would be a good rent I guess (I watched it at the theatre...)

It's cetinately better that the previous Punisher with Dolph Lungren, but still could be better, though.
IMO there still hasn't been any comic-based picture that would have been something more than just another popcorn movie...
