No one said that it isn't going to happen since that was posted and Kaz recently said that there will be new content coming in the next two months. Time will tell but chances are good.

I like to think of it as they're taking their time to make sure everything's right and good quality. Just getting the interior layouts for all those cars is time consuming!

I did wonder if all along the standard cars were more or less placeholders while they perfected the other 800 cars, knowing people wanted the game released after all that time.

Yes, interiors take more time than exteriors to model. This is one of the reasons why I think they shouldn't focus too much on them, at least for Standard car conversions, if they'll ever start making them.
