What PS3 racing games do you have or plan to have ASAP?

If it makes it easier, Hun, why doesn't an "expert" host each race in each game? I would be happy to step in and host and organise the F1:CE race if it makes it easier for you to organise the whole tournament generally. Or I can easily find someone who knows F1:CE well if I couldn't do it.
It seems to me one of the problems is adapting to each game's interface and organising the race.

Oh and I forgot, F1:CE doesn't have voice chat btw either. I think invites work, but its easier just to tell people the password. The only issue is the random-crashing in the lobby and people being kicked while using the chat during the race countdown.

Cold not make it to the test event, got a last minute call to go out to a party...

..missing your test event leadet me in to 'almoust blowing up my house.

was a grate party, i came home in good shapae and focused, (vodka style) was reaching for a glas of water and fell insantly in unconciosnes and faling opened the gas swiches of the cocker.

woke up 2h later freezing and scared, the whole house did smell gase.

i feel werry lucky now.

locking forwart to safe online racing :D

HI
Well i most admit that I hadn't seen that the test was moved foward. As i didn't had time sunday I wasn't going to take part in the test.It was just luck that I fired up the ps3 saturday evening.Well aside that I've only played v8 in the last 2 weeks it went ok.I think if the planning is don perfect it could be a fun event.I had fun aside of the fact that I had to get out of the playseat to change games numerues times.

Btw mario
In shift are we going to race with that awfull car with the "wooden" tires.

 Whoah! From now on, your new handle should be "lucky_soul". :sly:

Henrik! The 72 Skyline is a lovely car. What's the matter with you! But I have to admit, I did have a slight advantage. About a month ago I had a 3 lap race in this car at the Nurburgring with Hun200kmh & AlanG184. Mario and I danced a bit and Alan disappeared into the distance. (Gee, who would have thought). During this event, at the end of lap one I made a big mistake and spun but on lap 3, I was finally coming to grips with the car and slowly catching Mario. The beauty of this car, is that for the entire length of the ring, you only need take your foot off the throttle 4 times and hit the brakes twice. Or maybe it's the other way around. :sly: Either way it's obviously an exaggeration. But I DO think Shift is more interesting (and tollerable) with the slower cars. Tier 3 and up and it just gets worse and worse.

GT5P "afterthoughts": The random matching (or "the lack of a lobby system") is a serious problem if the Pentathlon event proves to be popular. And I can only think of one way to deal with it. To split the participants in groups with a maximum of 6 players

As I mentioned on your visitor page, I ended up the 'host' for both GT5P rounds. Or at least I believe that was the case. And I find it quite interesting that in both rounds, one person was left out. And I begin to wonder if Prologue has just as much of a problem making a P2P connection with NAT2 & NAT3 players as Supercar Challenge does. But it's just never been obvious because of the way the player matching process takes place. We probably just assume there was an issue or a full lobby or you were thrown into a lobby with a different host that collapsed. Perhaps we only see it in SCC because of it's lobby system. Shift also has an issue with collapsing lobbies but we don't noticed it the same way (I'm guessing) because the game uses EA's own servers and maybe they simply handle it differently. I've never played F1:CE online but the collapsing lobbies Ardius mentions could ALSO be a problem with P2P connections failing the stability test. So indeed, with larger lobbies, an incompatiblily issue could be a problem with ANY of these games and I would suggest a maximum of 6 players no matter which game you're playing. Having hosted dozens of organized SCC events, I can tell you beyond any doubt, if you have 12 players in the lobby, at least one person will have a problem.

FWIW, I was scared to even enter the Prologue event because I hadn't played GT in months and as we all know, being even a little out of practice with these games can have a major impact. While I was waiting, I did a single practice lap and I'm glad I did because I spun about 4 times. But it was just the oil I needed to start the machine running and I didn't totally embarrass myself and my laps times were...well they were OK. :D Granted, I spun in both rounds and unfortunately hit Bjorn in the braking zone for turn one. I waited for him but it compromised both of our races. But I was relieved not to be completely blown into the wind. Of course, I'm sure everybody else was out of practice too and while the Ferrari 512BB has good power on the straights, my cornering ability was compromised. Still love that car though. 👍

Just a quick note to tell you guys that Shaggy Alonso introduced me last night to the world of F1:CE online.

And I found the game to be AMAZINGLY GOOD! How could I not even try it for this many years is beyond me.

more to follow ... later! :)

Yep, that was fun last night and it's great that F1 CE is still appreciated by many amongst the sim community. The Inside Sim Racing guys even gave it a thumbs up, some 3+ years on:

A couple of other points about F1 CE online that I don't think Ardius mentioned;

1. It has a glitch at a few tracks - only online - which counts your outlap after a pit stop as a timed lap. This does occur at Interlagos and it'll make an outlap about 4 secs faster than a regular one, meaning fastest lap will go to whoever does the best outlap in the race basically.

2. The host has no control over what driving aids others are using, and each user's driving aids aren't displayed anywhere for others to see. A driver using ABS and stability control set to full has a pretty big advantage over another who switches them off entirely. True to the F1 2006 season rules, TC cannot be switched off, but rather turned up and down. High TC may help in slow corners, low TC helps in the higher gears.

Thanks for posting Shaggy - I had missed that (very belated) review. Yes, it confirms my belief that for a dedicated racing sim fan, F1CE remains the best game on the PS3. It also confirms my sense of loss that Studio Liverpool never got the chance to make a follow-up & instead (idiotically) almost 4 years have gone by before anyone has had the chance to make money from producing another console F1 racing game.

I can't help feeling that (partly judging from their driving) the guys actually didn't play the game long enough to really explore the depth of the game. And one final thing, I really prefer F1CE with the G25 - I notice they were using a Fanatec which really takes the edge off the FFB effects IMO.
