What PS3 racing games do you have or plan to have ASAP?

The HOG, since you are the Shift expert around here, if you were to pick an accessible car for this pentathlon to be run in the Nordschleife (bearing in mind that all races in all games cannot be "Extreme" or that would spoil the multi-game concept) ... what car or kind of car would you choose?

EDIT - And your comments don't seem bad at all. Coming from SCC to GT5P last night I had a lot of trouble just to adapt to the lack of wheel feedback (had to increase the FFB to the max and even then ... :D ) so that's just the way it is. If you keep changing games you'll notice more these things. Nice writeup, btw 👍

When I had Shift, I quite enjoyed driving Porsche's around the 'ring over and over... and over... and over again...

My favourites were the GT2 and GT3RS. Specially this last one. More "hardcore" feel and better agility, albeit not being as fast as the GT2.

Of the games listed I own only F1:CE, GT5P, FC and SCC. (I won't spend any more money on an EA game!)

I didn’t play much F1:CE mainly because the wheel support sucked IMO, even after FFB patch, and also because I generally prefer slower cars; I liked some of the older cars but unfortunately you can't race them.👎
When I got a little tired of GT5P I picked up FC (second hand) but never really got used to it; at the time I was still playing a lot of GT5P and found it very difficult to switch from one game to the other due to the huge difference in the force feedback. With SCC this got a little better – i. e., the dead zone issue was much improved allowing for a medium setting, and even "strong" was much more manageable; In the mean time I also got a DFGT which was a great improvement from the old DFPro (driving over the strips actually became possible without immediately losing control – although this didn’t reflect in my lap times much :dunce:).
I haven’t played GT5P for quite some time but really would like to meet you guys there. Maybe next weekend? How are you syncing for the online races?

Yeah, works 4 out of every 5 times we do it so it could be worse.

I was, a year and a half ago, a daily (or, properly put, a "nightly") player of GT5P. And I remember how lively GT5P online was, with full or almost full grids every time.

So it's almost sad to see it abandoned. Last night I did a few more GT5P races with Alan and there's almost no one there, bar the random punter.

Yes, and this is exactly my problem and always has been with Prologue. How can you have a serious race with these kind of nit wits on the track. And there's really nothing you can do about it but start again, and hope they don't end up in the lobby again.

That's because you dealt with GT5P like a "Lone Ranger", or something like that. I, on the contrary, always dealt with it using the fantastic gtplanet community's event schedules (a bit complicated to explain if you're not familiar with the concept, and I lack time right now :) )

And that meant that I almost always had fellow GTPers in the lobbies I entered, and was able to have fantastic racing nights with friends in a game that only has ... random matching.

I'll join you guys later tonight. Already have completed the licenses from this new save of mine, so I'm no more limited on the events (just the cars that still are few)

Quite frankly we (the late night crew) were just faster than them and if a specific individual was really troublesome we knew how to make his actions miserable (just ask Siegmund1 ,if you ever see him, about us) ..

Have fun with your Pentathlon Mario !!

Cheers!

EDIT: btw , don't freak out , I'm just stalking this section of the forums out of curiosity :)

Yeah, I had some great races too with lobbies almost full of GTPers, too. I particularly remember a 750pp Daytona Road event prior to the August 1st 08 update... Kind of lost interest after all the extra grip that update brought, though!

You really should come here more often, and you really should buy SCC! ;)

Jeff, mr geez, in a green Amuse 2000 and I, in the white Vette I used again yesterday after months of dust in my virtual garage, made High Speed Ring 800 PP our "correctional institution for punters"

ahhh .... Siegmund1[DE], we almost miss you! :dopey:

PS - Last night me and Alan found a pale image of a Siegmund-kind -of-guy. He got his lesson by the end of the race, finishing in a well deserved ... 3rd place.

PPS - And this even if Alan and I still haven't perfected the "wait for the punted - bump-draft - get the punter and pass him " technique I used to be so fond of with mr-geez :trouble:

..I think you meant "championship white" Amuse s2k in honour of first Honda F1 car!

never touched the green one in my life :)

Yeah, yeah. But my point is, one shouldn't HAVE to resort to such tactics. :)

I think they should implement in the (hopefully someday who knows) upcoming GT5 a crossover mode with MAG...

If we get to find a punter we would be able to get our machineguns and RPG's and... KAABBOOOOM!!!

Thinking in similar terms, this would be nice for punter-overtaking (but loaded with ammo, not water :D ) :

lol ... those guys do it for real !

Doesn't GRID allow for private lobbies? I'm sure Shift allows it because once I (and Jeff also) entered in a lobby opened by Biggles.

Problem is ... I don't know how to do it ...

I think you must open a lobby in a unranked match. Then you can invite everybody you like. Perhaps we should try it in the next days.

Tha's correct in Shift. The question remains about Grid, will have to find it soon.

Anyway, considering the poll results I guess it becomes clear Grid has to be put out of any multi-game event.

In GRID, you can create password-protected lobbies.

I have a question about GRID. When I view my laptimes on the leaderboards, my ranking is not respective of my time. They are sorted by time, except I am inserted among slower times. For example, on one circuit my time is around 54s. In the leaderbards everyone around my time is a slower time, a bit like:

rank n+0 1.01
rank n+1 1.01
rank n+2 1.01
rank n+3 0.54 (me)
rank n+4 1.01
rank n+5 1.01

Anyone understand?

I Don't really remember that well,i sold the game, but i think it might have something to do with driver's ranking(v.g rookie, elite, etc)
