It was doomed from the start. I told you in post 2 that it was a waste of time. You then didn't help yourself by not knowing all the answers.

well, I just had an idea and I pretty much didn't think about it so my fault I guess. I just won't put up more threads like this just for that reason.

well, I return to get this thread going again with a much more mature attitude this time. we start now:

Name the four Japanese Manufacterers that have taken victory at Le Mans.

Mazda in 1991. Mazda are the only Japanese manufacturer to have won the Le Mans 24 hours...

Are you talking about class wins too? If that's the case, I still don't recall another Japanese winner.

If he is going by class, then I believe the manufacturers would be Mazda (Overall winner '91), Honda (GT2 class winner '95) and Nissan (GTS class winner '94).

yeah, I'm going by class wins.

'83:Mazda 717C- Winner Group C Junior class.
'85:Mazda 737C-Winner C2 class.

Looks like Jackington got it right. another manufacterer win that could have been mentioned was the 1999 GT1 win from Toyota.

Next Question:

all of Tom Kristensen's wins at Le Mans have Been with VAG. name the other two manufacterers he won for that are part of VAG.

I'll guess. Audi and Mercedes?:dunce:

He won for Porsche, Audi and Bentley. I'm not sure which of those are the 'other two'. :)

Porsche and Bentley.
Audi is VAG.(Volkswagen Audi Group)

Audi and Bentley. I don't believe he ever won overall with Porsche. And besides that Porsche are a separate entity all together. They merely have an alliance (a long standing alliance at that) with VAG. In fact, Porsche has been rumored to BUY VAG. IIRC He won for McLaren, Audi and Bentley.

when I said "the other two" I meant Besides Audi. sorry but thats not the correct answer as Mercedes is part of DaimlerChrysler, not the VAG.

jammy ozzy and SERGE.DENAYER got it correct.

@jammy ozzy: The other two refer to the other VAG manufacterers besides Audi

@m.piedgros: I didn't necessarally mean just overall victories but all of them and also, if tom kristensen won Le Mans in the Mclaren, then he would have had eight instead of sevenwins(hence the number on the 2006 Le Mans Spec Audi R10). in the 2005 Le mans race, they chronical each of his six wins prior to his victory that year.
Look Here under Part 3

Porsche is not part of VAG.

indeed Porsche is not part of VAG as I have just read so disregard that last question.

next question, here's some interesting cars from the GT Franchise:

Honda NSX-R
Nismo GT-R LM
Venturi Atlantique 400 LM
Vector W12 LM
Lotus Elise GT1
Lotus Esprit GT1
Toyota GT-ONE
Nissan R390 GT1
Mazda 787B
Dodge Viper GTS-R
Chevrolet Corvette C5-R
Lister Storm
Jaguar XJ220 LM
Ford GT40
Audi R8
BMW V12 LMR
Mclaren F1 GTR
Sauber Mercedes C9
Mercedes CLK LM
Pagani Zonda LM
Pescarolo Courage C60 Peugeot
Pescarolo Playstation C60 Judd
Toyota 88C-V
Nissan R89C
Nissan R92CP
Jaguar XJR-9
Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe

true or false, all of these car raced at Le Mans.

bonus: name the year(s) they competed.

False:

As far as I know, no-one took a Vector to LeMans.

The Venturi was a 400 GTR, not a 400 LM.

The XJ220 was an XJ220C, not an XJ220 LM, and had its 1993 class win revoked a couple of weeks after the race for technical infringement.

The Nismo GTR-LM is a road legal homologation model of the Nismo Skyline GTR, which did go te LeMans in 1995.

Again, there is no 'Zonda LM', but there is/was a Zonda GR, which scored a DNF at LeMans in 2003 due to a broken gearbox.

Useless trivia: The Italian coachbuilder who built the body for the Shelby Daytona Coupe unwittingly made the roof 2" too tall. It was later discovored that if the roof had been made properly, 6'3" Dan Gurney wouldn't have fitted in the car.

the cars with "LM" in the name were named that on GT, not by me. anyhow, correct answer.
