I've had a rant about the levels of detail on the standard cars too many times to make any further headway with, so I decided to put up and shut up. Now I've found something else that irritates in a big way - Tuning restrictions.
I'm not talking about restrictions for qualifying entry into races but more a case of what I see as the manufacturers specifying what can and can't be done to their cars.
Let me explain,,
The Audi Example.
An Audi TT cannot be tuned to match or outperform an Audi R8, despite proof that it can be done from HPA.
An R8 cannot be tuned to match or outperform a Gallardo.
The Nissan Conspiracy.
An R32 cannot be tuned higher than an R33, which in turn cannot be tuned higher than an R34, which cannot be tuned higher than the GT-R. All this despite a multitude of Japanese tuning houses offering dramatically higher levels of tuning, even ten years ago!
Ok, so this may be a dramatic generalisation but I only have to think back to an old Max Power magazine to see a certain Smokey Nagata rolling down a tunnel in an R33 at just over 200mph, with 1285bhp under his right foot. The most powerful R33 I currently have is only pushing out 704bhp! I think these things were even pushing 1000bhp+ when they were in GT2!
I also get frustrated when something like a Lancer Evolution cannot be fitted with anything more than, at best, 525bhp. Again, another platform which can attract much higher levels of street tuned performance which is not reflected by the game. Supra's, RX7's, Impreza's and GTO's have all been neglected, despite being lovingly accounted for in previous versions. (Toyota Supra Rz and Mitsubishi GTO / 3000GT's were also capable of 1000+bhp in GT2)
Just because they're now considered "older" vehicles, doesn't mean they are any less tuneable than they once were.
Furthermore, where are all the dump valves for these stage 3 turbos I keep putting on everything!?
,,,,, and whooosaaaaaahh,,, relax,,,
Anyway, just wondering if anyone still has a copy of the previous volumes that can add confirmation about the previous spec levels of some of the aforementioned cars for a direct comparison of how far PD has regressed some of their cars?
(EDIT: subsequent information has found that the 1000+bhp skylines were in GT2)
